Engine design seems to be gunning straight at the American muscle cars. Big cc appeals to the Americans more, even today in the face of rising gasoline prices. And since Jap engines are typically lower in FC due to the liberal use of advanced engine management electronics, I have a feeling the new NSX will be a hit in US. Corvette & Camaro, watch out!

i don't think they are boasting about the 100bhp/L barrier. it was broken by the S2000 a long time ago.

 

what's interesting is the use of a naturally aspirated V10 - Honda only had a V6 previously. and the 570Nm (compared to GTR's 588Nm) of torque. but we have to see the power/torque curves to see how usable these are.

 

with so many cylinders, it may also have partial cylinder shutdown to save fuel when cruising.

In order to keep up wif GTR's twin snails, it is hardly unconceivable tat Honda has to use displacement to keep up e odds (Honda's pro NA). Nothing wrong wif it, just a different method.

 

Yeah, looks like the partial cylinder shutdown (akin KM Accord 3.5) might be in store BUT who is going to use this as a daily car such tat FC will be a concern anyway?!

 

Shape-wise, I think e old NSX has more presence, we'll just have to wait for this to appear in the flesh for me to have any decision.

Actually whats so interesting about the torque figure? Thought thats a standard for a high tuned V10 with such displacement? Its not possible for a V6 to match up to that power and torque figures without forced induction since V6 displacement is generally maxed out at about 3-4L

Such a displacement will come with a big price. The original NSX-R price tag is already very hefty. Alot of ppl are put off by it.

 

Now it just became another American Muscle made in Japan. It's so silly of them to wanna match up a twin turbo car.

but.. V10 front mounted layout seems a bit nose heavy .... (very reason y GTR designers keep it at 6 cylinders)

 

plus a AWD system... hmmm...

big cc sports car i would say appeals more to enthusiasts.

americans do like big cc cars,but you will be surprise at some of their power figures.

yes,many manufacturers already had did it long time ago.

ok,let's talk about normal aspirated big cc cars that can achieve this figure.

most of them are from Italy like the Ferrari and Lambo.

other european models are the M5 and the recent M3 which should be classified as big cc im my opinion.

and also the new Audi RS6 or RS4,i forgot, with similar specs to the new M3.

and now back to japan,not that i heard of so far except for this NSX.

even the previous NSX-R did not hit 100bhp/litre.

so i mentioned impressive in terms of a japanese supercar.
