Which Method/Type Is Better ???

Which method is better to repair a puncture tyre ???

 

1) Repair from inside ??

OR

2) Insert those black or orange rubber ??

Repair from inside. That's the method tyre manufacturers recommend.

 

Option 2 is just a quick fix.

Of course it's internal patching. That is the actual way of repairing.

 

The black worm thing is a fast and lazy way if you ask me. Unfortunately most tyre shop are using this method.

My current tyre already inserted the orange worm as most of them are using. I am thinking of re-do it by internal patching. Possible right ???

 

Can tell me which shop still doing internal patching and how long it takes ???

I only know South East Tyre at Kaki Bukit using internal patching. Takes about 10-20 mins for the whole process. If you change tyres there, it's cheaper at $10. If you didn't change tyre there, I tink it's more expensive. Not sure how much though.

 

Anyway, when I went to a big tyre shop at 53 Paya Ubi recently to repair tyre, they charged me $10 for worm patching. Last time I am going there.

 

But if your tyres are not leaking air, then no need to re-do lah.

both method works..

 

for internal, it's better for those nearer to the sidewall..

 

for the injection type, it's not so bad for those that is directly on the thread..

 

anyway, in conclusion, since you have done it, no point wasting time and money to do another patch.. moreover, the hole have been filled up, so it's going to be difficult for them to do the internal patch.. it could worsen the situation

Replace it with a new tire is the best.

 

Repairing it the tire will still leak pressure but at a very slow rate. U have to constantly monitor that particular tire as u will find that it losses pressure faster dan those other 3 which are not punctured.

what u mention may not always be true. so far my wormplug-repaired tyres do not leak faster than the other tyres. i was worried about that so i monitored the patched tyres more frequently.

 

but it COULD leak faster i guess. just check pressure more often lor, to see whether one is heng or suay

 

and yes, sidewall puncture means .. time to buy new tyre

i think you guys have a misconception asking the method of tyre repair.

it is not only whether the repair method can stop the leak or not? if the worms repaired leak again i will say you can go repair again (inside or outside also can)but i tell you outside method definitely had made your hole BIGGER look carefully the worm are forced into the hole in order to stop the leak so you should know the hole had been open wider?

But do you kown some flat tyre had got the damaged or injury only can be seen inside,so can you imaging you could be running on a repaird(worm or insert) but internally INJURED rubber which could lead the to tyre separation or blow up.

Always make sure the tyre is safe to put back to service after repaired.

So do be reasonable and willing to pay more for the proper or professioanl job.

Always put safety above every thing.

If the situation do not allow you to do proper repair than consider change to a new rubber the BEST
