Hi All,

I have a Ford 2.3 from 2009.

Have have now experienced 3 times a Engine Malfunction message during driving on highway and power stops and car to into LHM (Limp Home mode). I took the car to the Ford dealership to get it checked but they could find anything wrong with it during service.

I was wondering if any of you guys had experienced same problem?

Neutral Newbie

I used to drive Honda, Toyota. But I will never switch back to them since I had a Mondeo. Mondeo give me a total different driving experience, stable in cornering, pick up gradually without any tiny jetting. The moderate car weight is a proper protection for your family, and the effective braking make Mondeo more trustworthy. Driving on Singapore road, what else do you want? Of course the petrol consumption is a bit higher.

Interesting. Wonder what causes the issue.

Hi,

Any idea is there parallel importer for Mondeo?

Base on the selling price from AD, it seem like they charged more than 50k wrt to the cost of the car they purchased.

http://www.which.co.uk/cars/coming-soon/ford-mondeo-2014-/

Have not come across a Ford parallel importer.

Not a popular brand and thus no parallel importer.

You should compute the profit margin based on the OMV, COE and the various government taxes.

By the way, I think the selling price AD quoted is for Mondeo IV and not for the new model right (Aston Martin lookalike)?

Yes, that is based on old mondeo reference as the mondeo havent arrived yet,

However, 1 thing for sure is that AD will try to milk even more profit from the new one as the AD told me that it will be more expensive. Without parallel importer, the AD can monopolize on whatever selling price their would like to made.

Ford is just a bread and butter car in their countries similar as VW (aka Toyota). However, they asking their profit margin more than what VW is making.

They trying to be like those luxury car like BMW, Benz profit margin. If I remember correctly, the last time (~2mth ago) the AD quote me a mondeo at >150k for display set but when I check the OMV, it is only cheapo at 22k. do the math and u can tell how much profit they are trying to milk

another major concerns is when I ask my car serving workshop on which brand is the most problematic car among those send to him for repair.

the 1st thing he comment is Don't get a Mondeo. Problematic and costly for repair. He comment that a Benz even more reliable than Mondeo

Problem is there is no other place that sell Mondeo. That is why I check here whether is there any parallel importer that carry it.

My target is to fork out additonal 15k but not 50k on top of the cost price.

Wait till your mechanic tries other makes :-)

Not sure about the MK I, II Mondeo, but MK III and MK IV Mondeo ok so far.

As long as can resolve when problem arises (whether at agent or outside), then it's fine.

Costly for repair? Depends on where you go lah. There's a workshop that does Ford repairs that many of the Ford owners pop by. So he has a good captive market to thrive on.
