Hamburger Hypersonic February 13, 2015 Share February 13, 2015 yup, is longest, although i wouldn't call the interior a joke, is just much less nice compared to s60. but if keen driver, then mondeo is the one to go for coz steering feel and handling is better than s60. definitely on my card as the 2.0T is awesome. Not the 2.3L though.... ↡ Advertisement

The specs of S60 and Mondeo quite similar, but S60 so much faster 6.3s vs Mondeo's 7.9s But at $190k, the S60 OMV is $28k, and the premium is whopping 48%. So Mondeo at $165k will be a better financial choice.

If so, then it's off from my choices. The XFs currently on sale are 2012 models whilst Passat is still 2013 (my colleague just bought one a few months ago). With Infiniti Q50 also on limited sale I am torn between it, the Mondeo. The only thing we can guarantee is that both Mondeo and Q50 are newly or recently made, not sitting in stock for 1-2yrs. For me that's a plus worth a few extra $k.
autotech Neutral Newbie February 16, 2015 Share February 16, 2015 (edited) driving the mark I, mostly city. managed to get around 8-10km/l was told the new mondy because of 6-gear tranmission gets around that too https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D3J47Sb15EY Edited February 16, 2015 by autotech
Troublesun Neutral Newbie February 18, 2015 Share February 18, 2015 Seems the new Mondeo has water irrigation issues, causing rain to leak into the engine compartment instead of being channeled into the wheel wells? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-RfQsOQL9lE

Watwheels Supersonic February 18, 2015 Share February 18, 2015 Recently there are reviews from buycartv & carbuyer. After watching both it seems this generation of Mondeo is not so good. The Taiwan review equipment wise is on the low side. Carbuyer review says its steering & handling is not as good as previous generation Mondeo. Nice exterior but average interior. From the looks of it it's less competitive to other luxury sedans.
bsswan 6th Gear February 21, 2015 Share February 21, 2015 Carbuyer review says its steering & handling is not as good as previous generation Mondeo. Nice exterior but average interior. From the looks of it it's less competitive to other luxury sedans. To be fair, the previous Mondeo was supposed to be best in class for handling so now to be not quite so good it should still rank it second or third. The Mazda6 and new Passat are supposed to handle better now, unlike before, but it could be down to an individual as well. The interior of the Mondeo I think is better than the 6 and I've not seen the new Passat in person yet. I don't put any Mondeo into a "luxury" class, not when it's designed for Sales Reps and families in Europe so at that level I think it's reasonable. With a Mazda6 going for just less than $140k and the Mondeo around $160k there's quite a difference in price but the Mondeo is a much larger car. For those doing trips up to KL etc. it could be the more comfortable on MY roads. It's still on my shortlist for changing in a month or two, but so is the 6 and a couple others. I'm driving a Mondeo Wagon (Ecoboost 203 hp) now. The handling and power is great. Only complain is vibration at slow speed (when decelerating and then accelerating). This is due to the automated manual gearbox, an inherent problem for such gearbox. I heard the new Mondeo is using torque converter now, so it should be better. For the price of $160k, I believe there is room to come down. I bought mine at $143k when COE was going at $63k (during their special promotion and some bargaining of course). But they missed the first 2 bids and finally delivered the car to me at COE $73k and same price. I'm happy since I have $10k more added to the paper value while RM's profit is reduced by $10k. The government wins it all. Of course, price will be a little stiff now considering it is a new model. Btw, the 5 year / 100,000 km warranty is one of my main buying criteria.
Dice 3rd Gear February 21, 2015 Share February 21, 2015 am keenly awaiting the arrival of the wagon for this new version of the mondie... took a seat and a look see at the sedan version, i like the interior and felt is is better than the volvo's, there's electronic dash and we get the button console like the european versions, US market gets the touch non-button version. the seats i thought was really really comfy and the rear leg room is huge, i am 1.8m so i sat at the driver seat and adjusted it to my height and reach and the rear room is still wonderful. exterior wise, it gets LED head & tail lights, DRL, so i thought it's pretty bang up to date. the price tag is def a plus point with the amount of value i think i will get from it... another car to add to my watchlist, also looking at mazda6 and cx-5 and the new s-max if it comes this year. And mondeo is 87kg heavier. The new passat is also 1 of my consideration, although the DQ500 supposedly much better, but still

Matoonia 6th Gear February 23, 2015 Share February 23, 2015 When did anyone say the new passat has DQ500? cannot rem reading somewhere, because the new bi-turbo diesel has 500Nm torque which the DQ500 can handle up to 600Nm
Lala81 Hypersonic February 23, 2015 Share February 23, 2015 I think the 1.8T here will still be using the DQ200 or a variant. It's supposedly a 7 speed dry DSG.
