pt to take note from the video clip is: try to reduce hydroplanning at e rear wheels. Don tink it matters whether its FWD or RWD. [gossip] Its wet condition n not dry one tat we r stressing here.

that depends on whether u r running staggered tyre profiles..if u r,then u will change 2 and not 4 at one time. cos for cars on same tyre profiles, they would tend to do tyre rotation,so all tyres wear out evenly n change all four when weared out.

as for staggered tyre profile guys, then its front two will wear out first due to steering inputs. anyway staggered tyre profiles are for RWD vehicles..

I read somewhere that it's better to put the pair of new tyres at the back for FWD cars, contrary to popular belief. This is becoz IIRC putting the new pair at the front may induce oversteer, hence dangerous.

Of coz best is to change all 4.

For FWD cars (ie. most of the cars in SG), bring the older ones to the rear and put fresh tires on the front.

This provides the best amount of front grip for steering work and also for acceleration.

The same actually applies to RWD cars due to the steering bit.

However, because RWD cars require the rear wheels for traction and acceleration, good rear tires are essential too.

that's only for track or motorsports. for daily driving, understeer is much more preferable to oversteer.

understeer is relatively easier to control or recover from. oversteer, spin, flip and burn [dizzy]

even on the track, i found that because of this principle, i got my best lap times with crap tyres in front, and better tyres at the rear. when the tyres were the other way, i dare not push the limit cos they would suddenly break traction and [wave][wave]

Very true. Most people don't know how to handle oversteer and the car just fishtails all over the track.

Still haven't gone to track with my red baby yet, but I'd like to see what happens on the long corner when I floor it down on 3rd gear at 110km/h

i am fully agreed with you, what we are sharing here is for general public,so is mianly for daily driving.(track or M/sport may not appllied )

Since Michelin tyre company had expressed the concerned and important about this issue and clearly informed the general public and proved it to you,so why not we take the advice? [laugh].

But i thing do remember it still depend on your the other 2 old tyre condition,it may not suitable to push forward to front such as irregular wear(will cause loud tyre noise/vibration) ,also re-balance them before going to front

forget to remind those running on 2 big 2 small or special setup car cannot do this [:(]
