There are too many factors to predict and consider... Strange thing is, I agree with the views put forth by those who have bought and those who advised against buying on all the threads here so far! [sweatdrop]

Friend just booked a 118i on MONDAY (immediate reg). Given a very decent trade-in, plus overtrade, plus extra discount to offset the Open CAT COE of $6.8K+ vs the CAT B COE of $4.8K+. Collecting car next Tue/Wed.

When the dealer takes in a car which is lower then the owner's outstanding loan, the dealer can provide an overtrade to transfer this $$$$ and add on into the new car loan.

Hence yes, one have to pay more interest. [nod]

Not applicable in my friends case, He's trade in value is $20K +/- more than outstanding, so no need to topped up. The overtrade was still tagged on to his trade in car.

Although no difference to him/me if its used to reduce the new car selling price. Just moving figures around!

Almost book but after calculation this is not the best time to buy a car. Yes, the car price has dropped, but the coe also drop. I don't understand why people rush to see car when coe is $2. Car price only drop on average 3k and coe drop more than 5k next time i scrap car my rebate amount is lesser.

Yup bo hua. Car price only drop 5k, but this is sorta herd mentality that Singaporeans r famous for. If they see 5k coe they not excited but they see $2 coe they jump to buy a car at 6k coe. [laugh]

Anyway we do need Heroes to spend more money & take in more debt to keep the eco buzzing for the rest of us when job & salaries are dropping like flies and the situation is not expected to improve anytime soon! [sly]

Must source around, we went to 4 dealership, PML not the best, only 2nd best. The other 2 ADs quote for trade in value was close to $10K off!!! The best was abt $2K more.

Of course it then boils down to whether u like a particular car/model more to be able to stomach the difference..........

Note, we requested the actual trade in price without any overtrade tagged on! So can roughly gauge the value better, Not foolproof but jus slightly clearer.

With the price drop from Performance Motor, it is not significant & in addition it is sad that your friend has decided to be BMW guinea pig or sucker for an entry level BMW car that claims to be prestigious by the manufacturer & yet cost so much. Cheers..
