Help1 1st Gear January 14, 2009 Share January 14, 2009 better stop taking paid leave or unpaid leave for such volunteering F1 event, who knows when u come back, u will be shown the pink slip and the finishing line ....unless u r force to clear leave...i think SporeGP, govt agencies now tremble hands n legs wondering whether more teams will pull out this yr thus when event reach out shore, maybe there are only 3 teams left to race

Jeronleow Neutral Newbie January 26, 2009 Share January 26, 2009 Very smart move by these people. If this is a free or charity event I dun mind volunteering for free. Apparently each ticket cost half a month salary.
Dynaway 1st Gear January 26, 2009 Share January 26, 2009 this place is damn sick... when they want free service from the ppl, they call it national service or glorified the volunteering work.... but when u want their service or help, they tell u nothing is for free n u need to pay this pay that..... crap. Jeronleow Neutral Newbie January 26, 2009 Share January 26, 2009 Exactly! "Volunteer" is usually used in non-profit organisation. Wth they want people to volunteer when they are cashing in each head at half the average monthly wages. Ya some may say it's for the experience. I want the experience too but only if I can see at least half the car on the track. Afaik the volunteers are stationed way out of sight of the cars usually at the entrance and stuff. Flying_genie 6th Gear January 26, 2009 Share January 26, 2009 This is a highly commercial event. People make tonnes of $$$ out of this. For every 'volunteer' recruited, somebody else makes more profit! Don't be dumb . Once the organisers can't fill the 'volunteer' slots, they will have to pay for the manpower!! Jeronleow Neutral Newbie January 27, 2009 Share January 27, 2009 To each his own la I would say. Like people know by calling those donation lines most money goes into pockets rather than to help those needy and after few cases people still donates. For those who doesn't mind volunteering for a profitable event, with all due respect, go ahead and have fun. But speaking for myself, I wouldn't. Kelpie 2nd Gear January 27, 2009 Share January 27, 2009 donw it last year as flag marshall...no more for me Once is enough. Really depend on what one does there, it could be a very boring stuff, either stand or walk the whole day. Rather watch TV then to be there. Toapayohkid 1st Gear January 28, 2009 Share January 28, 2009 (edited) f1 is profit-making bizness and they want volunteers? wtf. at the very least they can offer "internships", pay kachang and get student help. Singaporef1 Neutral Newbie March 6, 2009 Share March 6, 2009 I was a volunteer last year too and will do it again this year. Don't always look for rewards to do something... Passion is something that cannot be rationalized. I have been following F1 for 20 years so you can imagine, being able to be there as a volunteer... priceless... It's true that they make a lot of money on our back but thats not the point. And anyway it's the same all over the world for Race Marshalls. The Australian who trained us, some of them have been doing this for 20-25 years as well as maintening a full time jobs. We do it because we like it, nobody force us to be there trackside. ↡ Advertisement
