Engine sourcing, Choosing a engine from same model lineup?

Is it theoractically If i possible should one day lup a VQ35DE up from the 23DE is it legal?I've heard engine swap can only be of the same engine cc, otherwise would be a engine mod, aka impound. I saw someone mention on mcf about a Mazda 3 lup from 1.6l to a 2l engine.Because im not sourcing the VQ35DE from Fairlady 350z but from the 350JM. Since the J31 has three engine lineups QR20DEVQ35DE,VQ23DE and the 230JM chassis is the same as 350JM Do i just have to pay more road tax +etc or a outright ban?

 

Quite skeptical of this as i really wish to improve performance of the 230JM as like what Ryosuke Takahashi said, every engine has its limit.No matter how far you tune it it will one day reach its end of lifespan. It would also lead to greater performance gain

 

I do not wish for anyone to look down on me and say si ginna why are you building castles in the air as i really will be forgoing poly for ITE because ITE only has Automotive engineering course that allows me to get more hands on approach on tuning and maintaining cars.and even sacrificing my lunch money to buy car magzines to learn .In every possible fyi my lunch money is only $6 for a 16yr old kid.If i am deemed to be a keyboard warrior by the old birds, please do not forget that i have given my utmost consideration to performance-fuel loss and legal binding laws.I do not wish to circumvent and cheat laws, and will duly pay up any road tax evaded by any form of engine cc gain and maintenance.What my passion is is to tune cars.

so no need to proceed with other questions already.

anyway you think its easy to find 350JM engine?stop dreaming.

car fast means fast,slow means slow.

don't think so much about modifying your dad's luxury 230JM.

like wat we have replied to u last yr....dont bother tinking of wat u can do to ur dad's cefiro230. just be happy driving it when u finally go get ur license n pass.

 

after driving it for a few yrs,and when u get a job after serving NS for 2yrs,(that is if u dont want to further study) then u can go buy ur own car.

 

when u bought ur own car wif ur own sweat n blood, then u know how difficult it is to earn $$ n the true value of $$...if u still have so much $$ left after that consideration,then u can go do ur extreme mods to ur OWN car under ur OWN name. so that if u kanna caught,then at least u never implicate ur dad into this.

 

buy a car that is more mod-able. not cefiro. enjoy ur mods

 

this is the most constructive n moral suggestion i can give u. as for regards to mods,let us advise u further when u get ur own car to start wif.we will be more than willing to help u.

If im asking for the sake of NATO, please do reconsider that if i am just another kid that thinks that modding a cefiro is a walk in a park, you are extremely wrong. I know the consequences and yes, i plan to use this car on a benchmark.And i dont think i am kidding already, if not i would just enter poly and forgo the course that i have passion, and want for it.

 

I just have to know if its illegal. I know you cannot lup engine ,but was very confused because the VQ35DE itself is a engine choice for the J31 as well as the VQ23DE, so since now i have clarified the matter, there is no need for insults

VQ35DE is quite fairly easy to find as it is both 3498cc (unless the 350JM's powerplant is detuned slightly)and it is both implemented on 350JM and 350Z. Not to mention that even 240sxs are using 350z powerplants in America.

the suspensions,ecu and many things are totally different.

 

oh yah,nobody is interested in you forgoing your courses at poly.

I have already considered all these. including the ecu, might just reflash or piggyback.

 

Chassis weight etc, power delivery and transmission etc.

 

Well who would in thier sane mind waste another year on a course he liked when he have a choice to go poly.

 

 

Not to mention im very weak in maths, but i go for regular tution and force myself to listen.Before i was a merry go round kiddo who didnt have a aspiration

 

I intend to make this clear once and for all

 

I am just using a car as a benchmark when i start my buisness, eg theories can be performed and what i can offer to the tuning community

 

So im welcome to entertain any backlash, as long as its constructive i'll take it in mind, but once it overstep the limit, i dont think i have a choice but to complain to moderators or engage in a war of words.

If you want to use a car as benchmark, at least have the sense to choose a car that is widely available and easy to begin with. And start small. Like as someone here has mentioned, you don't start with a Cefiro.

ok,good for u that u have aspirations to open a car workshop in future. i'm guessing the father must be quite well to do to fund ur ideals...anyway,pls finish ur NS first,and get ur driving license. do research on how much is needed to start a business,and a good location for ur workshop. as least show ur dad of ur plans b4 spending his money.

 

as for lupping engine,it is possible,only same make,same engine cc,and if u lupping from an existing car,the car must be scrapped after the engine is removed,or if brand new from authorised stockist, certs n letters to prove that the engine is same cc n for ur existing car model type. so yes,u can Forced-induced ur DAD's current cefiro,let the engine piang thru ur trial n errors(in the name of research),then go Tanchong to buy another similar VQ23DE again. no u can fit in a VQ35DE legally...hope that ans ur question.

Good aspiration.

There are already many workshops in Singapore doing engine swaps and modifications.

You can see such road legal cars at Kallang sprint race.

 

After you ITE, just get a job at the conti car workshop, they send their staff to german,italy,france to learn advance courses each time a new model is launched!

 

Learn all the tricks, and can open a workshop after 5 years.

 

There is a HUGH market of cheap skate conti owners, who are always on the look out for cheaper car servicing. Not forgetting the HUGH market of PI conti cars for you to earn $$$ from!

 

In Singapore, the resale value of a car is not linked to its servicing records! So now more and more people are wised up to get outside cheaper repairs for their BMW/Mercs/Volvo/Porsche,GTR, etc.

Buy a go kart, learn to drive it, learn to tune it, and apply those theories to road cars later on. It might seem like toys to you, but its the only driving you can legally do before you are old enough to get a driver's licence.

hi there. its good to know u have a passion for cars! anyway, since u are very much interested in automotive engineering, why dont u aim for NUS mech engineering and then specialize in automotive engineering at that level? they have that option. i'm interested in auto engineering as well & aiming for that course lol.

so who's gonna ship it here for you.. the port's gonna question ur ass off about the engine.. so wad else do u know? engine swapping isnt as simple as you see it.. not like swapping tamiya engine.. the ecu's gotta change.. wirings bound to get messed up..
