I've got a bright yellow box that says I have to verify personal information to remove the bright box.

1. Is this necessary?

2. What's the information used for?

3. What's to stop people entering bogus information?

Information like these can be used to get advertisements or to be sold

I detest alll marketing cold calls and emails. It is my practice to write down in all my account opening forms, especially those with financial institutions, my personal information are not to be used for marketing purposes. I hope there will be no change to below privacy statement in the near future.

The need for the contact number is for ease of communication. Till date, MCF has received quite a few lawsuits & police warning/enquiry about its members. We believe that these issues could have been resolved the easy way if the member was contactable. Providing the IP address of the user to the police, and letting them trace out the user via the ISP makes the issue grow much bigger as time and money has already been spent just to trace the member. There have been cases whereby a member has a full emailbox, and did not turn on the PM function, or PM box is full, or did not see our message, thus making them uncontactable.

Nevermind. The ISP will be accountable.

Im just waiting for further flaming and defamation from the below online moniker "Friendstar", before i go legal.

on a separate but similar issue why I don't fully trust these disclaimers that the info will be kept confidential, is that there is a real life scenario that happens with the PA database.

When you sign up for the PA passion card, seems that the personal information, including ALL CONTACT DETAILS (phone, mobile, address, email) are made available to the senior grassroots leaders of your district. I am very sure that no normal person would accede to their personal info being made accessible to any grassroots leader. Yet, PA blatantly shares this info - notwithstanding what privacy rules it declares. So who can guarantee what the thousands of grassroots leaders in singapore would do with this info. Are all grassroots leaders angels? Can PA prevent this info frombeing used for other thann sanctioned and legit purposes????

Similarly, can a forum like MCF guarantee such info does not fall into wrong hands? When even Facebook gets regularly hacked and data stolen? I wonder, wonder, wonder...

Pls check before making those accusations.

Your personal info is available only to yourself. Other members can only see the "gender, location, marital status and car make ".

Just click on other member's profile to double-confirm this.
