Agree...when u look at it this way....

But have to bear in mind, Mazda Dealer mark up the price horribly...after 1 year, the price fell like crazy (for the old Mazda 3)....from 80+k to high 60+k...goes to show the intrinsic value of the car....

those who buy it now will cry when that happens....

actually the price of mazda3 fell due to coe.

i own a 2004 mazda3 bought at 77K.

altis price also fell from 75K to 50+K.

The Permium and taxes also fell, in fact car like civic command very high permium because they claim to have high resale value. But in the end ppl can see the losses after selling a car is not the resale value alone but the total losses including interest from bank with high loan.

5 mths ago, a Mz 6 only cost $72k, Rex $67K, SGT $78k, Camry $78k and Legacy is $69k, now is not the right timing. Bank loan is getting very strict nowadays, PI are having hard time with the Yan keep going up, and those ppl can affort to take $70k loan will have more better car to shop compared to a few years back in 2003 when Mz3 was the best looker around.

Neutral Newbie

What are all the fuss? Let the market forces decide on its saleability. There are many ways that a car manufacturer may choose to price their vehicles. The local agents are merely distributing which is to if so required to buy high to sell high and vice versa. Some may choose to enter the mass market, the niche market or the in-between of the general market. The manufacturer may have other priority markets to supply hence the high pricing to temper the product supply.

Appears to me that Mazda3 wishes to have their new model owners enjoy a premiership and obviously would have to pay a price for it for owning a new model Madza3. Their marketing ploy may also include color choice both exterior and interior combined as a premier ownership that when the price drops, certain colors are not readily available. A well managed marketing force would have a watchful eye over its pricing and competition and if need be to make prompt adjustments to suit the higher management ROI.

Don't like the price, don't buy it! Advice to a retail consumer, of course! [lipsrsealed]

anyway...the 1.6 auto version costs $66,988 and the 2.0L costs $75,988

the Mazda 6 2.0V (basic) 4dr cost a whopping $90,988...just called them and they don't have 5dr stock anymore...

you have to pay a premium for their drive...good driver's car but not great to be seated in...

my friend bought a civic 1.6 1year ago at $72k, when he asked an agent for possible

resale price, he was shocked to learn a total loss of $25k excluding interest loss & penalty

for early settlement.

If ppl say popular cars have higher resale value, i wonder what do they mean....

so irregardless of MZ, Toyota, Honda and etc, there is no difference. [shocked]

It's better to do more research before buying a car rather listening to sales talk, going for a test drive is not a must to buy a car which many ppl think so. Last Dec, my friend managed to bought a WRB 2L MY08 hatch at only $58k after 1 year launch, and infact during test drive there was no stock accept 1 grey until left, until 2 week later saleman call and said there is 1 WRB and red available because someone loan was not approve by bank and car was release for sale again.

all cars in singapore have equally bad resale value.

If certain make has better resale value like Honda or Toyota, you already pay a higher price for the car price so definitely, you will get additional $ back for the resale value which is reasonable so don't expect high resale value for a cheap car.

take the bus or mrt if you're concern about resale values...buying a car in singapore is never an investment...so don't think about earning money from the sale of your brand new car...

however, you can reduce your money loss on a car by buying a 2nd hand one...less than 3 years preferably...

This is another intelligent talk I have seen. Rather than someone just saying H badge is the only premium badge that can charge their car at "so called" ridicular price tag.

Resale values are bad nowasdays for all cars. But if your new car price drop terribly your resale value will be much worst hit because the new car of your model has already drop so much. Everybody lose money but it is how much you lose. Somemore, some cars are not easy to off-load into the market whether locally or overseas while some brands are easier. Check your car body price after some years (comparing with other brands of the same year) then you will know your value of your car.

yah...i wonder who could live with the new Mazda 3 face...looks stupid...and sure to be a laughing stock...plus look at the price...

it's basically a ford focus...so get the ford focus, the real thing...which is priced at $63,988...much cheaper than the Mazda 6!

though it comes with less features, it's still a continental car...

Honda pricing is steep but after afew years the selling price somehow or the other remains quite the same. But some cars after afew years spiral downwards like nobody business. You still don't know meh ? Think you should mingle more with those workshop people and second hand car dealers to understand the "value" of cars.
