Hi,

Wish to seek some advise on this.

It had been 3 weeks ever since i got my ride, i notice our local drivers are rather reckless and impatient.

Once again, i encounter this issue. Once again, it arise from overtaking encounters.

Yesterday, on the road at boon keng, signal left in order to go to PIE Tuas entrance.

This driver on the left lane does not want to give way.. I slowed down, he also did the same.

and when i accelerated, he too did the same..

when i cut into his lane, he honk me..

and for this, he tailgate me with his high beam for a long distance...

lastly, he overtake me and show his middle finger at me..

Since i considered a newbie.. i been thinking if it's my err..

and was rather shaky ever since as it could arise into an accident..

Was wonder if a probation plate display, would it give more grace to other drivers since my driving skill is poor and my speed is slow.

Welcome to the jungle... where only the fittest survive....

P-plate only acts to tell people to avoid you.... not for them to give way to you... [:p]

[laugh] It's very different from what you learnt from driving school.

First of all when it comes to filtering lanes, do not expect ppl to give way to you once you have your signal on. You have to look for an empty space or an opportunity to filter into. And pls kept left/right early when you wanna enter/exit. So it's important to know your route well and not do last minute filtering.

Other dan this you will have more coming at you. [laugh]

You have to learn from the bad experience and move on.

i doubt so

but if you driving this around, i think it probably will [pirate] even if you do not know the route and exiting/entering at the last minute

I drive and rides also...

when u ride.... dun to rely on "rights of way"....

cos i faced many time...i'm on main road....car just dashed out from side road...cos they are bigger and so called "protected" by the metal....

again, when i drive.... i rarely faced this problem.....cos metal against metal..

so u really have to be very careful when u ride... "rights of way is just for reference.... we ought to be 150% alert...once we put on helmet...

Rights of way may work like in australia....

but here..sillypore...people are self-centered and selfish... so dun expect they will give way to u..even u are on the rights...

Some may say fittest survive...but till they killed someone and taken a life...then see if their guilt will make them say this or not...

no wonder, i seriously feel driving on road is very stressful...

filtering lane is a challenge for newbie driver when people don't wish to give way.. for that, will be shown middle finger for nothing...

I agreed, it's important to know the route.. i going to buy a GPS next week, hopefully it helps..

If you put yourself in his shoes you will feel the frustration too.

If he gives way to you, he will have to slow down to your slow speed while you take your sweet time to maneuver your turn, after you are gone he will have to accelerate back up to speed. Waste time, brake pads & waste fuel [laugh].

nope, not me for sure.

3 weeks, i never drive on first lane for more than 3 mins unless overtaking.

always on 2nd lane and keep at speed limit..

well, seriously.. i need to improve on filtering.. especially on small and busy road..

No need gps lah.... just get lost a few times and make a few u-turns (can practise your u-turn skill some more) and you will be fine! [thumbsup]

The more you drive, the more confident you will be.... anyway I also encounter these "reckless" behavoir everyday even though I have thrown away my P-plate for many years already. [shakehead]

Some road users are just more impatient than others.... Go read the complain section in MCF and you will get my point...

but for newbie drivers, we might be afraid to be on the road again..

kanna horn.. kanna tailgate.. and even middle finger..

practise make prefect.. but during the practise mode, give some grace lah.. [sweatdrop]

it's not easy to filter, totally different from driving school.. [speechless]

Whoah... how you pass your test one? Yours is kopi license is it? [:p][:p]

Just joking lah... the fundamental and concept is the same as driving school. The main difference is in the speed... Driving school you neber go expressway plus you got speed limit so everything all slow-mo...

On expressway, the traveling speed is a lot more faster so you need to learn to judge the speed of vehicles behind you before you filter out. Drive more and you will get use to it... Before you know it, you will be bullying other P-Plates... ^_^

For a "beginner", the roads seem quite daunting at first but after you build up your confidence over time, you will be back here in MCF to give advise to other newbie drivers.... [scholar]

Btw, don't be surprise when you signal your intention to filter and the car behind speed up to close the gap instead of slowing down to let you in.... [speechless]

Have it occured to you that the fella may have thought the same about what you had mentioned above? And if he did not want to give way, he would have accelerated instead of slowing down.....

You may be inexperienced thus there are times you may have misjudged on what had happened but think about what i had said in my 1st paragraph..... the only thing is he may be more hot-tempered
