Nissan Sylphy Feedbacks Please

My Nissan Sylphy 2015 started to have cracks on the side of the car seats (all car seats except for one rear seat which has child-lock door). Told TC about it, the first thing they say it's that it's already past the warranty period blah blah... quite frustrating coz you would't expect your leather sofa to crack in just 3 years? Do they expect me to change car seat leather every 2-3 year? Just wondering if anyone here faced similar issue as well, it seems to be poor quality leather / vinyl to begin with. Still in the process of taking to TC.

Wah. Then I better start applying the leather care on my seats soon. Coming to 4 years in Jan

Though I don't drive a Sylphy but 6 months once to apply leather care seems a bit too long liao.... [;)]

You should do it maybe once a month or so and if your ride is always parked under the sun for prolong period, you should do it more often otherwise the leather will crack lagi easily ...

One of my friend drive a 2014 Sylphy and he also have slight peeling on the side I think ...  he complain to TC and also got no replacement for it. Now he apply leather care like twice a month to prevent it from deteriorating [grin]

Good quality leather seats do not peel off so easily

The locally installed leather is known to be poor quality. I know of many people with b17 sylphy with factory installed leather never any problems after many years. Mine 3.5 years ok.

I agree. Usually they will ask the contractor to install the cheapest grade. More savings for them

Twincharged

I applied leather care on the seats every 6 month or so; the top cover are probably real leather so they are still in very good condition. It is the side , which is very likely vinyl or other kind of synthetic leather that started to tear!

I have a set of dining chair at home where the fake leather started to peel after a few months. Complained and have it replaced and no problem after 7-8 years. So the quality of the material matters a lot to begin with.

Honestly the last picture look like due to passenger somehow scratch it..

My sylphy coming 5 years.. now barely hitting 10km /l... Sometimes engine will rev loudly to almost 3k when driving normal road.

Hi,

How did you do it?

They are at bottom of the black part. Longest is 2 inches. Not very wide so not really noticeable. Can easily cover up with a strip of black carbon fibre sheet.

Just to share, my friend brought his Sylphy to do up his peeling leather portion at a shop located at The Frontier @ Ubi Ave 3 [drivingcar] Think this shop is referred by the people from Tan Chong when he brought his ride in for servicing [drivingcar]

He paid S$100.00 for the replacement of the peeling portion on the lower part, left side on his front passenger's seat :a-panic:

If you notice carefully, you may be surprised that the wrap near near the engine ignition button is also poorly done. At least in my case observed then.
