by the way.. does a property/car agent contribute Cpf? how to define taxable income?

Car salesman is standard as per employee/employer.

Housing agent is regarded as self-employed.

Property agents earn commission from every transaction. Depending on the company, sometimes the agency takes a cut of the commission (20% or so, depending). But in essence, a property agent earns what he sells. So more sales = more money.

So that's why agencies always claim that agents do not represent the company, because they really don't. Agents work for themselves.

Today's chinese news reported that more and more people are joining this line, due to the real estate boom of late. There was even one agent who earned $80k worth of commission in just 2 months. Wow! Too bad my job contract strictly prohibits moonlighting.
