Zniper 2nd Gear July 22, 2009 Share July 22, 2009 The 3A is a god-send for many people, especially those who consider the car simply as tool to get around. The handicapped especially, benefit from this. But these cars are so ridiculously easy to operate, and drivers are cacooned comfortably in air-conditioned and insulated cabins. They tend to become disconnected with the car and the road. They take for granted that everything can be overcome through the push of a button, the turning of the wheel, blaring of a horn. Inconsiderate and dangerous examples we see daily on our roads. To drive a manual car, one has to understand some basic mechanic concepts of power, speed and gear ratios. How they interact when moving the vehicle. For a lot of people, this may be a bit of an obstacle, but our parent's generation and before never complained. You will learn to respect the limits of the vehicle, and naturally the road and other hazards along the way. For those who have a choice of 3 over 3A ( I never had.), you have my admiration. Learn well, and stay safe. yeah, i agree wif u... class 3 is definitely my choice... last time no 3A but even now ask me to take i will oso take class 3... 3A no kick, real driving is when driving manual... now sometimes now and then, i'm driving manual van or lorry although i'm driving an auto car myself... but it's the need in some jobs and when frens need u to help move tings or move house, there u go a manual van or lorry can do the job... ↡ Advertisement
Latio79 Clutched July 22, 2009 Share July 22, 2009 Definitely class 3. At least u can still drive when u are overseas. Not sure if Class 3A is "recognized" world wide. However, if one intends to drive only in sg and has problem passing their practical with manual, can consider class 3A.
Ken_leong 2nd Gear July 22, 2009 Share July 22, 2009 yea, im voting for class 3 too, unless u can totally rule out the need to drive manual cars in your future line of work or for watever purpose. Totally agree with you on this one. We won't know so best is to get a class 3 and be able to drive any car. Not very nice if your boss ask you to drive his or company manual car/van and you tell him you can't cos you only can drive an auto car, rite? Snowblind Neutral Newbie July 22, 2009 Share July 22, 2009 If taking 3A, better to take private I think. I spent almost 2.2k in school and pass class 3 first time. Its quite hard to get dates for lessons and TP test. I completed my lessons in July, but my test was in Oct. Soo spent the reminder time doing revisions. My wife took private 3A, failed her last test but has spent about 1k. But if you know zero about cars, better to go school. Some basic things private teacher wun mention. My fren didn't know about steering wheel lock few days before his test.
Quantum 5th Gear July 22, 2009 Author Share July 22, 2009 but, but you guys never realise manual vehicles might extinct in no far future, maybe 5 to 10 years or shorter?? even if van, lorry and army vehicles also going to be auto liao, where to enjoy manual feeling, and high performance cars also are DGS to instead of clutch liao
Drive_carcar Clutched July 22, 2009 Share July 22, 2009 People who opt for Class 3A are just merely commuters changing to a private transport. People who opt for Class 3 are drivers. Enough said!
Quantum 5th Gear July 22, 2009 Author Share July 22, 2009 if w/o class 3 holder can drive auto, do you guys still opt class 3 just for driving fun??

Verve 1st Gear July 22, 2009 Share July 22, 2009 actually i believe knowing how to drive manual helps you to drive auto better let me explain if you take auto all you know is how to step accelerator but for those who have driven manual before they would know how to a) induce engine break on auto b) play with throttle to shift down and let car accelerate better when overtaking c) Let car shift upwards to reduce rpm and fc all these makes the manual license much more worth it
