Somebody just said during National Rally we must have religious tolerance. I think these four will sure kena jialat jialat to set an example.

Like I mentioned earlier. His words never seems to pass through his brain.

He's 21. Talk never pass through the brains one.

Talk very directly and very offensive to some.

Act cool, act zhuai(跩), act rich.

Thinks he very smart by trying to outtalk others.

their actions & reactions all very similar. wtf are they teaching in those schools?

oh yes, blame the schools and the teachers again. like as if the lessons/teachers actually say its ok to do such stuff.

never tot of blaming the parents. or the internet for spreading negative values. or their 'deathmetal rock band' whatever, which are exactly the people teaching youths to do these things. or that dude himself for having a screwed-up character despite the fact that no school in s'pore ever teaches their students to do these things.

nope, definitely the fault of the shcools and the teachers.

my bad for expecting more from them. pls forgive, only a mere mortal's misguided view.

pls continue...i will get out of their elite uncaring face and have them dance on my grave (if i can find/ afford one). my bad for intruding onto their private affairs.

keep it up, gen Y.

but seriously, the focus is totally out of whack, it's like you have straight "A"s all the way, u can do/say anything u like cos u are king of the world or your dad's an MP? (referring to them, not you).

then again, it will be interesting to see if anything happens to them, if at all...

The 4 people need to be punished.

It reflects very badly about their parents.

有娘生没娘教.

How would their parents feel if their own forefathers' grave were fooled around with?

just to clarify...

i think its perfectly fair to expect a lot out of them. 'them' here being the students. and if you're going to curse and swear at these youths (like you are now), those youths get no sympathy from me whatsoever, in fact i think they deserve it.

i just think its not fair everytime we see youths going wayward, from small-small things like not clearing plates after they're done or cutting queue at the bus interchange, to big things like obscenely intimate behaviour in public, its always the school or the teacher that gets the blame. logically thinking, which public school never try to promote good values?

Really stupid act which gains nothing. Even if one think that the dead is gone, one should at least respect those descendants who are associated with those graves.

A child's behaviour/actions is a reflection of the parents as well. While I do not know who they are, I am incline to believe that they should be made (partly) responsible for their child's behavious as well.

Sadly, strangers' condemnation matters little. It would be a lot effective if some internet CSI can uncover their indentities and just circulate it around. That these punks parents are so-and-so... let their friends and relatives know of what their this acquaintances kid did. That's the only way to make these people wake up ... Shame them in front of people who do matter to them

sorry but at which point am i "cursing and swearing" at them?

if desecrating graves in your opinion is acceptable, never mind if it is small-small or big-big in your opinion, go ahead and make your day.

but if that were my relatives' graves, i'd be cursing and swearing at them. i am not blaming the RJC educators but i expect more from a RJC student.

bro, i really think you are misreading my posts.

i have NEVER said in my posts that desecrating the graves is acceptable.

All my posts have said:

1. Yes those youths should be condemned for their actions.

2. Yes its fair to expect more out of them since they come from an elite school

3. No, the educators should not be the ones to be blamed.

So all i disagreed with you from the beginning was in your first post you implied that you blamed their educators. that was it. I don't understand why you keep interpreting my posts as if i'm defending these youths or that i think their act of desecrating graves is acceptable.

i guess i differ from you.

the parents and educators but mainly, the student himself (given his age) are responsible.

maybe i come from a different era but my teachers then took a great deal of responsibility for the behaviour of my classmates and myself. but i guess times have changed? are you a teacher yourself?

so there, let's agree to disagree?

Sadly, times have changed and teachers now do not have the authority to punish students like before. Yes, some teachers did abused their authority, but most of the older generations turned out all right.

my ex-neighbour used to be of a particular faith that goes round condemning other religion by swearing at other religion's artefacts/orifices. spooky but there were signs thereafter they suffer some form of punishment for those disrespectful actions.

i still believed being respectful should take precedence over our own beliefs or faiths.

but bro, if now you say the educators aren't to be blamed, then i agree with you, so i don't see what's there to disagree. it was only your first post you implied you blamed the teachers, which i disagreed.

you're right, i remember my teachers all discipline me and impart all the right values, some the soft way, some the reaaalllyyy hard way, but all was for my character building. and i flat out dont believe today's teachers are any different.

but i can see for myself today's youths are different. they can't be reasoned with, they forever will think they have a right to do whatever they want, and no-one has a right to tell them otherwise. this, i see with my own eyes.

so, i blame that idiot youth foremost for his behaviour. and probably his parents too. and of coz, i blame the internet for spreading anti-social values, and that youth's death metal band thing for making it look cool to insult religion.

so i dont see why you think i diagree with you, in fact i've been agreeing with you.

i am planning to have kids soon.

one thing that keeps me awake at night is how to manage the tide of gen y or maybe gen z thinking, in the case of my kids.

relating to the above case, maybe i was vague. i was surprised when one of them is supposedly from rjc, you'd think intellect would at least compensate for immaturity for the scenario above.

i belong to the camp where caning or the deterrent effect of caning is not an obsolete method of discipline. sometimes, the situation calls for tough love.
