Sony 1st Gear October 20, 2009 Share October 20, 2009 just did orchard central carpark. i need a puke bag. what were the architects thinking?! they are thinking of making more money out of rent-able retail space. carpark, to them, is just carpark.. Rickster 5th Gear October 20, 2009 Share October 20, 2009 when i need to visit orchard on sat morning/afternoon, i will park at Square 2 and take a train down. save me alot on carpark rate! sq 2 charges flat 2.20/entry from 7am to 7am on sat. Wa thanks for the info!
Rickster 5th Gear October 20, 2009 Share October 20, 2009 Yes, this is correct. When I went there the first time, I also didn't know and ended up paying ERP. But the ERP is nothing compared to the carpark charges. That one is scary. Agree. This also applies to city area parking. The ERP rates is not even worth mentioning when you take into consideration the parking charges
Rickster 5th Gear October 20, 2009 Share October 20, 2009 Want to drive to Orchard Road and park there, $1.00 is nothing. If heart pain about the $1.00, don't drive there, simple. Then at least those who don't worry about counting dollars and cents can drive in smoothly and find parking easily. True. Actually it also depends on situation. If i'm going there for a drink with friends for 1-2 hrs or just buy things and go, then I will drive all the way in to Orchard & park there. But if I'm going to spend half a day or more there, then i think its a good idea to park at square 2 and easily save >$10.
Rickster 5th Gear October 20, 2009 Share October 20, 2009 Have to agree with you on this point. It never ceases to amaze me that Singaporeans can afford to buy $60k-$100k car and start to think of ways and means to save $1, $5...etc. Park illegally to save a few dollars, wait in certain car parks just because the coupon parking is cheapest. Case of pound foolish, penny wise. Totally ridiculous. Nice to look at from outside but basically empty shell inside. Its not about the $ amount, its the kick to have done it. Windcloud03 Neutral Newbie October 20, 2009 Share October 20, 2009 when i need to visit orchard on sat morning/afternoon, i will park at Square 2 and take a train down. save me alot on carpark rate! sq 2 charges flat 2.20/entry from 7am to 7am on sat. Wa thanks for the info! I tried parking at Square 2, carpark like merry-go-round and sure it was wasting petrol. The parking space is tight and square. Can't find the lift so need to take escalator down and I was holding baby tram, omg! All the way down to the basement to take train. For 3 adults, novena to somerset (to and back around $0.70 x 3 = $2.10 x 2 = $4.20). Total $4.20 + $2.20 = $6.40 Forum Galleria $3.20 after 5pm on Sat and per entry on Sun/PH. Ion Orchard $3.50 after 5pm on Weekdays, Sat and Sun. So I guess if you are going after 5pm, Forum and Ion are both ok so you need not park at Square 2. ↡ Advertisement
