Rickster 5th Gear September 9, 2009 Share September 9, 2009 My advice. Since it is minor (scrach or slight dent), if can settle, settle on the spot in cash. Try not to claim from his insurance if it is not a clear cut case. If he dispute (he will not say he is drunk), it will be a very time consuming affair. In the event that you want to report him as drink driving, then you can also be sure that his insurance will not pay a single cent as they do not cover drink driving. Metalsubzero Clutched September 9, 2009 Share September 9, 2009 I think if you called police, than sure cannot claim liao if he's verified to exceed the legal limit of alcohol content in his blood.. It really is a tough decision to call.. On one hand, you don't want that idiot to get away scot free for drink driving, but on the other, u can't claim should u decide to report against him.. If I were in this situation, I would cal the police bah and proceed with a civil claim for my car's damage against him since I'll nt be able to claim against his insurance.. Can we even claim against our insurance??
Seaweed 1st Gear September 9, 2009 Share September 9, 2009 get money on the spot and sign black & white....else call police for drunk driving if he prefer to part with his license...
Mcf777 Turbocharged September 9, 2009 Share September 9, 2009 use your mobile to video the whole process. settle the money issue on the spot or ask him to write a idenmity letter to admit 100% liability on the accident. If not, call police and forgo all your claim and pay from yr own pocket.
Rickster 5th Gear September 9, 2009 Share September 9, 2009 why insuracnce will not pay??? Insurance definately will not pay a single cent if the driver is drunk. My late colleague died in his WRX when it crashed into the bridge pillar outside vivocity after clubbing 2 yrs ago. His case was established as drink driving. Insurance refuse to pay a single cent. His single-mother (no income) & still studying teenage brother gotta settle the outstanding car loan on his behalf [shakehead]

JumpySpeedFiend 2nd Gear September 9, 2009 Share September 9, 2009 Stand to be corrected, but insurance should pay for the 3rd party claim and reject the drunk driver own claim. As long as your car is damage by someone else who is at fault, you have all the right to claim, regardless the person is reckless, blur, or drunk when he caused the accident. Thestig Clutched September 9, 2009 Share September 9, 2009 All cars in Singapore have at least 3rd party claim for this specific case. This is too huge a loophole not to be plugged. So even if a car thief steals a car (Not covered by insurance) and decides to ram the car into 100+ luxury cars in the process, does that mean that no one can claim from this? The better question is what if someone steals a car from a showroom (not test drive model) that has no insurance at all, and then causes an accident. What then? Civil suit.. I presume. Aimnfire 4th Gear September 9, 2009 Share September 9, 2009 ok heres how our beloved insurance work on drunk drivers/riders drunk driver bang into u (drunk driver causes the accident)...................u really lan lan cannot claim into his insurance BUT if you bang into drunk driver vehicle (you cause the accident)..........the drunk drivers can claim damage on your insurance;p there was a report in TNP a few mths back where the rider was making a u-turn when this drunk driver bang into him immediately after the rider made a u turn...........although the driver was convict of drink driving, he still can claim his car damage by the bike as his insurance deem that the rider did not give way/check properly before making u turn. ↡ Advertisement
