imho, sitex wun be cheaper dan outside by a lot or sometimes even same... depends on wat gadgets... i hav been working in these IT shows for 2yrs and i noe quite a fair bit of stuffs like wat can buy there and wat rather buy outside dan go squeeze here and there...

for GPS, it's about the same or same price as wat u can get outside but only ting is tat they will throw in a bit of free gifts here and there.. but free gifts normally dun cost so much so no point go there squeeze juz to get tat free gift.. -.-

in fact... MFM and MSM provide free update of map inside the garmin GPS and of course the updating of the maps itself is done by the volunteer mapper and us the end-user whom contribute the POI and other road changes...

A real Win-Win situation in this real world!! [thumbsup][thumbsup][thumbsup]

I am thinking of getting the Garmin from US. Since SG map is free from MSM & MFM, by getting garmin from US, I will get US & Canada Maps free. Also it is cheaper there after conversion. But only concern is the warranty. Navicom warranty is how many yrs?

don't think it is good idea. Garmin from US is different from Singapore, a friend of mine bring a garmin from US, but it seems unable to search address. because USA's address is starting from State.... city....

Think you are right.. the price quite w/in expectation and no real slashing..

usually the free gift not very useful type also.

The place is indeed crowded, solely by their staffs already crowded like what.. have to spend quite long waiting just to enter the expo carpark, i guess that is norm already..

Sun will be a good day as they will try clear stock on sun.. many pricing will go lower.

so far been playing ard with 255W boug.. veri user friendly to use.

think need to buy SD card for it. anyone can recom which size shd buy? and any specific model or brand?

any garmine user,

know how often we need to update the map? which map we need to update? since they advise we use only 2 out of 5 maps in the gps.

I also got the Shinco C400 model (4") from Audio House main bldg. Paid $199 >1 year ago. Their maps cannot update so I just use till many roads out of date then just buy a new one. GPS came pre-loaded with maps fm east & west Msia & Spore. Total about 6 country maps inside.

I find it more than enough for my use in SG & MY. So far have been able to find all that I was looking for as their maps r very comprehensive & detailed.

Only thing is I cant seem to b able to find a location by keying in the lon & lat. Must go by name of location.

The instruction book supplied does not have much info & it seems like its actually for another model with similar features.

U can get the new maps on a SD card. Salesman said abt $100ea.

Can the GPS maps nowadays show 3D roads and buildings. Japan already has 3D maps years back, think Singapore only recently. Which model/type to recommend?

go for papago if you like 3D maps.
