Laser cutting service

Thinking of doing a mod to my netbook but no dremel [sweatdrop]

Would like to cut out a precise shape from the plastic bezel. I got the exact dimensions courtesy of a plastic block (not really a stencil)

Does anyone know of a good shop that does customised laser cutting service, mine is just a minor laser cutting only plastic only. Hopefully the cost is not too expensive.

thanks for your replies [wave]

Would like to cut out the shape of the apple on my LCD upper lid [grin] Then after which, use epoxy or putty to affix this plastic fella in there.

Final product will look like this [thumbsup]

if i were you, i will buy a tiny saw, rough and smooth sand paper and DIY..~ =p

those stuffs you can buy at those $2 shops..~

lol... i think normal sawing is okay for me but this project will require me to saw from nowhere on the plastic lid and the precision require to fit the plastic apple thing, i am not so confident to get that precision leh... So was thinking just go to those workshops that do laser cutting [thumbsup]

Because if i screw up then habis already [shakehead]

Me thinks just buy an Apple otherwise just live with the netbook, you may end up with more issues then you can imagine. Warranty, spoiled LCD, light shining through the LCD from the back etc.... Worse thing, when you bring it out and people see you using it like that outside they will think you badge whore. Like some people who stick a BMW to a nissan car, or a Merc logo on a Korean car.

56 defu lane 1

tel: 6280 2141

I just look to them to laser cut a piece of 10mm thick acrylic sheet. But I doubt they can do an "island" cut like the one in your pic. That's most likely done by injection moulding. Alternatively you can get a wooden mould maker to make a mould for you and you buy some epoxy resin and pour into the mould.

Turbocharged

How about Bras Brasah Complex? There are a couple of acrylic cutting shops on the 2nd floor. Maybe they can do laser cut for you.

Never tried their services before though.

Sorry I chek your reply. [laugh] [laugh]

Use Moulding Rubber, 2 part, mould out the item you want, then use fibreglass resin 2 part with hardener,

to pour into the rubber mould for the final product, GP resin would do fine, GP as in General Purpose resin.

2 part moulding rubber easily found. Got problems, PM me.

Good Strong Gum at Ubi might have

their acraylic box v cheap.think can customize ur design too if u have it

50% bigger than A4 cost me 20+, outside need 50-100+ <_<

Err...I chek your reply also.

Please don't use epoxy AB on your finish product, makes a mess of things.

Go buy 3M spray glue, mess up the area you don't want to have glue applied, then spray and stick on.

Very professional finish.
