That's why I always encourage people to get a blood test. Otherwise you're just guessing whether your health is improving or regressing.

My doc didn't believe me when I told him I eat 70% fat, mostly animal fat, when he saw my triglycerides after a year, haha. He has never seen such improvement (200 to 44) in his whole career.

I asked him if he had told any of his patients to eat 70% fat and as low carb as possible.

"No" was the answer.

bloody doctors.. and to think they take in all the smartest people. pui!

Where can you get the cheapest whole salmon? I think it could be good to buy the whole fish and use the head and bones for fish soup, a la tom yam style.......

I dunno where's the cheapest, but I think Giant Tampines is pretty cheap already....but it's cheap only if u buy the whole fish. Last week i bought one whole salmon, 3.34kg, at $14.90 per kg. Shiok ah, everyday i have it for breakfast hehe. I can't be bothered to travel for a mere 50 cents reduction in price, to me, this is a very good price already.

it's not their fault, it's their education's fault. Modern medicine is obsessed with relieving the symptoms, not the cause, and is obsessed with drug-use, rather than nutritive treatment or a holistic treatment. All the big money in pharmaceutical companies, just see the pen, calender and posters in the doc's clinic, all sponsored by drug companies LOL

In case you guys interested in the olive sardines from carrefour, it cost S$4.20 for two cans. The nett weight is about 100gm I think. Did not want the Ayam brand cos it comes with tomato paste. In fact it is a challenge finding sardines that does not come with tomato. Those that I found are pretty expensive, at least about $4 per can, and it is a small can.

Ayam Brand got one that is in extra virgin olive oil. But I can only find it at Cold Storage.

Tomato sauce is a no-no. It has plenty of sugar in the form of high fructose corn syrup. Not to mention all kinds of additives and preservatives.

Just read the ingredient list.

Ayam Brand Mackeral in Tomato, has carbs listed as zero. I wonder if they made a mistake. Anyway, i scrape off the tomato sauce before eating hehe.

actually, the education does not make them corporate mules.. its the money they make from selling out to the pharmas that make them stupid. modern western medicine has changed into pharma medicine. but the fundamental science is still logical, good and true.

anyway we OT. these doctors.. really hate their narrow minded, think they are smarter than the whole world attitude.

always talk down to patients, refuse to explain anything. must challenge them if not they will just treat patients like irritants that they have to deal with.

Yeah, I agree. All stick to what they have been taught. Don't dare to challenge or ask why people who die of heart disease have lower cholesterol than healthy people. At least if they stick together, and do all the same things, they can't be blamed.

It's funny how they continue to "update" their knowledge with material they get from drug companies. Ask them the difference between apoprotein (a) and (b), they give you the blur look, and then tell you it's "irrelevant" and the only thing that matters are total cholesterol numbers, and that statins are the answer to everything. Ask them about the side effects of statins, and they say don't have. Point them out to communities of people on the internet who are suffering from the side effects of statins, and they say it's due to something else.

Sigh...

U must have met some really nasty docs lol. A few of my ex-classmates are docs, my godfather is a doc. I've spoken to some of them about this new knowledge about fats and carbs, they know very very little about it. They didn't learn it in school. They were only taught how to treat diseases (or their symptoms?) I think they refuse to explain, not because they're narrow minded or think they're smarter than the world, but because they dunno about it.

If they propose anything that is not the norm they may get sued it it goes awry. Spin the same tale and if someone dies, thatz just the norm. Sadly, thatz self preservation first and foremost. Imagine doctors telling patients to ditch the low fat high fruits/vege diet.

There is a campaign going on right now on air. It says eat low fat stuff and two portions of vege/fruits.......................

Is not don't dare, is can't be bothered. Why do something that won't earn u extra money? Will the cai-fan aunty bother to stop putting sugar in her dishes, or cook special low-carb dishes? No, because her business is selling sugar, make people addicted, and make her rich.

Docs have no special interest to learn or find out more about preventive medicine, because it won't make them money, they're interested in selling drugs, that's what will earn money.

I do not run them down, they're only human, only wanna do the things that benefit themselves. I'm resigned, not angry or resentful :)

What to do - this "elitism" doctrine been spoonfed to us since young...

As only the "cream" of the crop get to do medicine in uni, these doctors no doubt will feel very full of themselves - full of what, I leave you to decide...hahah

Anyway, I think the younger doctors are more open these days - they know that they do not have the monopoly on medicine knowledge with information freely available on the Internet...

At least for myself, I will research or at least read up before I visit them...

is not the hippocratic oath - first do no harm?

sugar is harmful. carb is harmful... and they tell people eat more carb??? ok.. OT OT..

just to share with people who are tired of eating eggs fried, poached or boiled.. try making quiche.

recipe:

instead of flour crust, use cauliflower, chop fine and make a cup for the crust. this is optional if you don't want it.

Eggs - beat them up real good.

Fillers - you can use veg, meat, cream, cheese.. go wild.. I used lard, chilli and carrot

Spice - i use salt, pepper, cummin power, coriander, if you want it to rise a bit, can put bicarbonate of soda.

pour into muffin trays, heat at 150 to 180 deg C for 15 to 20 minutes.

simple and can be eaten as a meal. good luck.

that's a baseless assumption. The truly talented always know the vastness of knowledge n the smallness of humanity, and quite a few of my ex-classmates n associates r docs, none r as u described, instead, they have always acknowledged to me, how little "modern medicine" knows, and the limitations of what they know and can do, and how inadequate the knowledge they learnt in uni was.

Must be those few nasty docs u have met, or have u an axe to grind with people talented academically?

I would love to have access to doctors who would consider the alternative hypothesis locally. Doctors who have a more wholistic approach rather than the drug prescription approach. There are plenty in the US and UK.

I think even when doctors themselves see some revelations on the dogmatic method of western healthcare, it will be extremely difficult to put those convictions into practice, simply for the fear of getting sued for malpractice or tarnishing their reputation.

I just hope that the evidence will just keep mounting to a point where it cannot be ignored anymore. But it seems to still be a long way off.

So in the mean time, we just have to be the ones who must take the most responsibility of outnown health.
