Exercising without a gym

Had a small tetrapak of Ayam coconut cream (brown packaging) this morning with some flax seeds...

But a hour later, I am suffering from an upset stomach [:(]

Does this mean that I am "sensitive" to coconut milk?

Give it a few more tries to let your body adapt.

It's probably the combination of >90% fat + high fibre + first time your body is experiencing this. I eat this everyday with no issues, but did need some time to adjust.

Experiment with it. Have less flax, or less coconut cream, or substitute the flax with almonds...etc. Find out for yourself what works.

BTW, don't buy the tetra pack ones next time. But the canned ones.

The canned ones are pure 100% coconut cream. The tetra packed ones have emulsifiers and stabilisers in them.

nice videos there.. i wonder what will b the results if 1 participant just meet the daily calorie target by eating coconut cream only or fatty meat

I think it will be physically impossible to eat the caloric target with coconut cream and fatty meat. You will puke before you reach the halfway point.

This study is really enlightening! Tks CBS.

So if this is clinically proven, that we're what we're, if I go back to eating 'normally', I would soon get back my weight that I started with and probably stay that way if I maintain my normal physical routines and activities. Hahahahaha.

But I love the new mini me too much [laugh][laugh][laugh]

That's why it's a lifestyle change that has to be sustained for the rest of our lives.

Which is why for me, this paleo/low carb thing works, cos it's really enjoyable it keeps me satisfied.

The key to success: satiety and enjoyment.

If I find that I have to eat carbs or else life would be just miserable, I guess I would rather be hungry most of the time just to be able to have a little carbs in my life.

i think temporarily not used to the high fat content.

Okay thanks [:)]

Hopefully it gets better over the next few days

Will try CBS' suggestion and take the can one instead - good thing I only bought 1 tetrapak to try and the rest are cans...

Basically, from the hundreds of cholesterol studies, articles, reviews of studies, from both sides of the camp, this is what I have come to conclude, at least for now:

Saturated fat does raise cholesterol.

It not only raises desirable HDL, it also raises the large fluffy VLDL (which is supposed to be even protective against heart disease).

Additionally, it lowers the small and dense VLDL, which is the stuff that causes clogged arteries.

If you have read the above sentences, you know more about the truth of cholesterol than most doctors.

Next time you visit a doctor, ask him or her what is the differences between the various LDL particle sizes, what are the effects of each and how to test specifically for them. See what he/she says.

They will likely to not know how to answer any of the above. They tend to lump all cholesterol together and see your overall cholesterol number. It's totally meaningless.

Studies have shown that people who die of heart disease have lower cholesterol than people with healthy heart health. So what is the connection then? What is the point of lowering cholesterol? Shouldn't we be doing thing to increase the good stuff and decrease the bad stuff?

Sure, statins and low fat diets lower the total cholesterol level, but it lowers specifically the type of cholesterol you want more of and increases the type of cholesterol you want less of. Total opposite of what is good for health.

A much better indicator of good heart health is the triglyceride/HDL ratio. Anything less than 2 is good.

You can have really low cholesterol, but if your triglycerides are high, you're certainly at a much higher risk than someone with high cholesterol but really low triglycerides.

By now, there is no need for me to tell you how yo eat to lower triglycerides and increase HDL...

The best part is, body leaness is a side effect!

Bro CBS,

My Lipid Panel results. the doctor just whack say my LDL too high and want to gimme drugs. I said how u know the LDL is Big LDL or small and dense LDL? she just ignore. so I said i'm leaving.

a young female doctor. just ignore my questions, insist on what she must do. say cannot let me leave unless i get some drugs. say very dangerous, like want me to know can die anytime.. i almost believed her and then i just decided i should leave before i get convinced by her..

its like an insurance salesman, just whack until you blur.. don't answer any questions, like we don't understand anything..

i was told the lipid panel need doctor to interpret and explain, but i didn't hear any explanation, just "this is very high" , "must prescribe drugs". etc..

this is why i "hate" doctors.. just don't answer questions. look at 1 result and ignore the rest.

not all docs are like that. Besides, many docs behave badly because they're overworked, underpaid (for gahment docs, and those freshies) and kena screw by their superiors from on top and by patients below, everyday. Not an excuse, but i can understand why many behave badly.

i won't go so far as to say behave badly.. its not behave badly, its just failure to respect the rights and concerns of the patients. it is our responsibility to know our health and not trust blindly to doctors right?

they r trained by pharma.........onli noe how to give according to numbers. As to wat those numbers meant, they....... [sweatdrop]

yes, that's another reason, as confirmed by my godfather, who's a GP. They were only taught how to diagnose and treat ailments with drugs. As to the root cause/nutritional/chemical aspects of health, only those really really cheem specialists, then they get to learn. Those normal GP docs dunno wan. The ailments and symptoms that bother the human race, number probably in the tens of thousands....a few years in med sch and we expect them to be experts? Hua Tuo himself spent decades before he became an expert LOL http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hua_Tuo

What can I say bro, your numbers look good to me.

Your triglycerides are 96.5mg/dL (can be better, but anything below 100mg/dL is considered good, mine's below 50).

Your HDL is 51.4mg/dL (again, can be better, but anything above 50mg/dL is considered good).

LDL's don't mean anything if you don't know which type is the dominant one.

BUT, by your trig/HDL ratio, you already know that your LDL's are predominantly the large fluffy ones that are either benign or beneficial.

That said, it can still be improved. Aim to get your triglycerides down to below 50mg/dL and your HDL close to 100mg/dL. By the time you get there, you will be in the pink of health. Don't worry about LDL and total cholesterol.

Maybe throw in some short intense exercise sessions 2-3 times per week and be stricter with high fat/moderate protein/low carb.

I'm not a doctor bro. I'm just a health enthusiast who has researched this plenty, and have achieved the best health in my life by applying what I am learnt, which goes against mainstream medicine.

My family and friends whom I have convinced to go on the same route have also experienced tremendous health and body composition improvements.

I ended up on this route because mainstream medicine/nutrition/exercise failed me.

I don't want to play doctor and try to give you medical advice. All I am saying is, from the research that I have done, your numbers look better than most people.

She ignored you because:

1) she doesn't know the difference between apoprotein (a) and (b)

2) she doesn't want to hear medical advice from her patient

3) she believes deep down in her heart that what she has learnt in school and the research studies provided by Big Pharma will save your life

4) she has no desire or need to challenge convention

I mean you can totally understand why docs are docs.

In the end, we have to be responsible for our own well-being. When I challenged convention and looked to get to the root of my health problems, I regained my health. More aptly, I should say I was reborn cos I have never ever been healthier in my life, except maybe when I was just born.

Just follow history and the evidence.

Thanks for the comment bro CBS.

I was thinking about doing the NMR for the LDL. might have to see a cardiologist to do it.. waste money?

what about the VAP test?

if LDL is just large fluffy type than no need.. indicative as large fluffy by the trig/HDL ratio.

don't think a single doctor in SG will even bother with the new science... and I think i knew about this stuff more than a few years ago about LDL is divided into the large and small sized ones.

There is no NMR machine in Singapore bro.

Gotta go to the US.

I don't think anything other the the Friedewalde method is available here, unless you visit a cardiologist. Even then, before anything, he/she will try to put you on a statin.
