I intend to go to a WS to do general servicing and will not comment on the labour cost incurred but to pay extra 40 -50 bucks for replacement of fuel filter is it worth it? Both EO and fuel filter are provided by me. Hope you guys can give advice. thanks!

i am driving Rio06. any bros here have good workshop to recommend esp for Korean made as my car is emitting out some strange noise occasionally, the sound is like a person making out disgusted tone when not happy.

thanks again

S$20 if done in SG, RM$15 if done in MY, although I've heard of ppl getting it done at RM$10, hope this helps

Right, the job should be undertake only by experience mech as there are fuel and fuel vapour .Safety first is extreme impt when draining and storing the fuel, any slight sparks from tools can cause very serious explosion.

Many mech restore to using punch/ chisel and hammer to loosen up the fuel sender unit very think lock nut as they don't have the right tool of just don't want to invest in this simple productive tool.

During my 40km servicing for my FD2 at KM, the fuel filter (Fuel Strainer) was replaced as per requirement stated in the Owner Manual. If I follow strictly to the OM, the fuel filter has to be replaced again at 80Km servicing. However, when I sent my car for 80km servicing at Rivervale, the Supervisor told me there is no need to replace the fuel filter since it has been replaced during the 80km servicing.

These are what they did for my FD2

hi, i just went for my 80k servicing for my Toyota Altis from borneo motors. They recommended me to change the fuel filter sub assembly. The admin there explains that this is something about the fuel tank or something and recommends to change.

I opt-ed out because it costs like $300+, anyone knows what this is ?

That's a alot of work to do and also alot of precaution to take as the mech is dealing with petrol.

The mech has to drop the fuel tank ( for some cars , they have to remove the rear seat ), remove the fuel for safe keeping and remove the fuel sender top cover to remove the unit and sediment filter.

Understand the work and cost involved, but is it required at this point of time ?

It all depends on their finding, I cannot verify whether there is a need to do the replacement.

Just refer to your owner's manual - did it say anything about fuel filter replacement? If it does, then follow the instructions.

Ok, btw, its not the fuel filter, but some fuel filter sub assembly. Will check out the manual as well.

If I m not wrong, the most costly part of the fuel filter assembly should be the Fuel Pump. It costs $110 for the fuel filter and $300 for the Fuel Pump, when I had them replaced during the 100000 KM servicing.

Did your fuel pump Kaput or it was replaced because the service manual say must replace at 100 km?

for Honda, is the fuel filter located below the rear passenger seat? or is it located under the bonnet?

i presume the $110 you paid for the fuel filter is the price quoted by the workshop.

I was actually replacing the fuel filter and the mechanic told me the fuel pump is in bad condition and advised me to have it replaced. My ride is a Honda FD2, the Fuel filter assembly is located under the rear passenger seat. If I dun do it at the same time, it will incur another $60 being labour cost to replace the fuel pump. I was watching the whole process when the mechanic was doing the job, the filter was dirty and the fuel pump was full of dust. For your info, I dun pump Malaysian petrol. Btw, the job is not done by KAH Motor. The parts are genuine Honda parts supplied by a fellow member of Civic Forum.
