Used Car Dealers Feedback!

So u mean u pay for the 'mark-up of several thousands'?

no la. the "mark up" is just a method the dealer use to help owner get loan approval for 100% loan OR $0 drive away.

E.G:

Actual agreed selling price of vehicle itself: $25,000

Transf fee + 1st installment + insurance + some admin fee: $4,000

To have a $0 drive away, i need to borrow from bank an additional $4k. So, now I need $29,000 from bank in order to buy vehicle at $0 drive away.

But do note that bank don't usually approve 100% on ur requested loan amount. Most of the time is approve 90% of selling price. so dealer will submit to the bank 10% to 20% above the actual selling price which in my case is $33,000. And to make the price looks "real", they will change the price they advertise to the amount they submitted.

To the bank, it will seem to them that you have down a $4k downpayment, and now will need to borrow $29,000 to buy the vehicle which is 90% of the selling price. Loan confirm plus chop will approve liaos.

Any experience with Motor Universe Enterprise? They charge an admin fee of $500 and is adamant on most counts.

I'll strongly advise people from buying used cars from TTS Eurocars (SG FIAT Distributor). Just had an extremely unpleasant buying experience from them.

what happen?

they are quite a reputable dealer i suppose spoke to them once

I also have experience buying second hand cars from used car dealers and so far so good. I would like to strongly recommend them to the bros and sis here if they are getting used car. I only go to 1 and only used car dealer which is Car Times. Their service is damn good car condition also good.

My first car a used nissan sunny, head unit was spoiled after i drove off. The CD cannot playback. Call them and immediately they asked me to book an appointment to have the head unit change to a new head unit. The alternator cannot charge after 3 months i called the salesman again and he asked me to go to another workshop to have it replace absolutely free. I think wa so good.

I bought another car from them also. A toyota corolla. got problem also but changed parts also free.

Just a thinking.

Car Times is just a used car dealer with 2 or 3 branches when i buy my first nissan sunny from them. Look at them now, they have so many branches over the island and dealing with new cars also. What does this shows? I think honesty plays an important part in getting them to where they are today. I am thinking of changing car again and i think this time round i will get a used car. I will go to Car Times also.

Just my opinion. Pardon me for my lousy English.

Thanks.

Common feedback is that most dealers at Turf city are at high risk of modding odometer

Does it help if the car if within 3 years warranty, e.g. 2 year old mitsubishi or mazda? If the odometer is adjusted, i should be able to find out if I bring it back to authorised dealer e.g. C&C or Mazda motor for serviding?

Can someeone please advise?

I think 2nd hand dealer will not mod the odometer if the car is still underwarranty.

My dealer tell me that most people will mod if the car is after warranty. Any mod on odometer will void the warranty.

I just got a Mazda 6 from a dealer in Turf city in April 2011. The car has full servicing record and I was allow to send to my own workshop as well as Mazda for a full inspection with report(fully paid by my dealer)before signing on the agreement form.

Hope this do help.

2 months ago I traded in my Fiat Qubo for a Verna with Mactxxxxrt Motor. They had taken over the Qubo in April and to-date still they have not completed the full settlement with Cxxxbank and the ownership transfer. The boss (Jaxxs) always gave the excuses already sent his dispatch but his dispatch got it wrong, his Admin was not in office, he needed to travel to China and would be back the following week, his grandmother got hospitalised, and at many other times he would not pickup my phone calls.... Reminder letters were sent to me from Cxxxbank as the monthly instalment was not paid, and after much pestering to Jaxxs, he paid 1 month of instalment and gave me a letter saying that he would complete the full settlement by 18/6/11. I have visited his office but was told by his staff that he is not there. Worse still the Qubo is now driven by his staff and should anything happen to the Qubo there is no insurance cover while the vehicle is still under my name.

Previously Jaxxs also mentioned to me that he is in the midst of transferring his business from Mactxxxxrt Motor to another company called Cxxs to Cxxs. His business was previously operating at Mactxxxxrt Road and now they are renting a place from another car dealer near the Woodlands car mart.

Strangely Jaxxs had recently deleted his ads at sgcarmart, I believe he still has 4 cars on hand which are not yet sold.

I am now very worried because it seems like this car dealer is deliberately delaying time, but it would not be fair for me.

Also a check shows the company is not CaseTrust, and the company was registered as a Sole Proprietor.

What should I do and who can I turn to? When I took up a loan for the Verna, the bank had already disbursed the sum to the car dealer and after 2 months the car dealer still cannot settle the trade-in car...

Very much appreciate any help given.

Thank you.

To Micah : you are certainly in a nightmarish situation. Is e instalment for e qubo being paid monthly after e mentioned first one made by jxxxs? E cleaner + legal option wld b for Cxxxbank to repossess e qubo and auction it off. This will definitely cause u out-of-pocket expense. But it beats having to worry abt wat is gg to happen next....especially if dealer still unable to resolve by 18 June. Sorry abt yr situation.

Am sure bros here will share other options for yr consideration. Hope u are able to settle this matter soon.

Cheers

Thank you for reply bro PSP415.

The dealer had paid only the 1st month instalment after much pestering, the 2nd month instalment was due yesterday. So far no payment for the instalment or full settlement made by him.

With regards to allowing Cxxxbank to repo the Qubo and auction, it will cause me a lot of headache. It is because the out of pocket expenses would be too much for me to bear. Besides I had already paid the top-up amount in full to Jaxxs the car dealer to do the full settlement. It would be as good as giving Jaxxs many thousands of $ for free while I bear the stress and further financial hardship. I would not want to let him off lightly for this case.

Do you know of any bro who faced similar situation and might have a good lawyer to recommend? Is it possible to seek help also from the media?

Hi All, Just my 2 cents worth...

-Changed my car in Feb'11.

-Dealer claimed it was his wife's car & their 3rd car.

-Paid 6k above market rate because car's Mileage was 14K for a Dec 07 car. (Imagine that!)

-I am a person who is very careful in stuff like these so when to see the car, saw some door dents, thus believed that paintwork is original.

-Requested for service record from agent & it was proven that in Oct'10 it was sent to them at 11k but performed 40k servicing. (Hope AF is not lying.)

-Checked with a relative I know in the insurance sector about car plate for accident & no records were found. (BTW, this is their secret. They are not supposed to reveal. However, I'm lucky.)

-Lastly, checked tyres & low & behold they were original tyres made in 2007 & they still had hairs on them. (Was relieved as it could really mean owner did not use much.) Just that the side walls of the 2 tyres have already collasped.

-Had to spend about 1.3K extra for new set of rims & tyres!

So my advice is, if ODM shows low milage, try checking the tyres for yr of manufacture. Cause no owner will change tyres if they are not bald. Even if there are, the chances are low. :D

this was exactly what i did when i bought my 4year old car with 5000km mileage. it was a OPC. but tires were slightly older than the orig registration date and still with plently of thread, so confirmed mileage was correct. Under carriage was also very clean.

Understand. There are several cases reported in e press abt such bad dealers and at e end of the day, most if nt all still had to bear some costs even though they made claims via Small Claims Court.

Personally I suggested e Cxxxbank repo becos it will get yr qubo out of their hands legally. Imagine e ride being badly damaged in an accident or used for illegal activities and kenna confiscated (pardon me, just tink of e worst cases so tat u knw why its important to take back e ride).

U can sue e dealer for e top-up amount. Likely he b made a bankrupt and so, no $ returned.

U try to speak to e Cxxxbank officer to request for smaller instalment and den take back ride to another HONEST and reliable dealer to sell off e ride. U minimise e costs if nt thru auction by e bank.

Its an experience none wants to go thru and this is why this thread was started....to warn abt such dealers. If u read thru e various earlier posts, there are gems of good advices given by bros on how to avoid or best ways to ensure nt kenna tok or cheated.

Hope this helps.....

i prepared myself to enter the car ownership community and was seriously considering a pre-owned car due to the ridiculous COE prices now.

did research here and there and shortlisted several decent looking 2-3 yr old Honda Jazz/Fit from the market.

of course my headache came when i had to wonder if

1) The dealer was trustworthy

2) The car was in good shape

i had about 12 cars in my shortlist so the headache was quite a serious one.

i then read several articles on how to check your car and test drive, and was seriously overwhelmed by all the checks necessary.

and, as has been pointed out numerous times in this thread, odometer tampering is an open secret, and usual guideline to follow is 20K/yr; anything less and you have to sniff around for a rat.

another thing that peeved me further is the high prices for pre-owned cars now, due to prevailing COE rates. a 3-yr old Jazz selling at 50K+ doesn't make sense to me because i'm paying back the cost price to the dealer (if you do your own math and add up the OMV ARF COE etc.), and all that for a used car!

eventually i decided to save all my trouble, bite the bullet, and visited Kah Motors to get myself a first-hand Jazz. and now i feel blessed that i can enjoy my ride without worrying when time-sensitive mechanics will start to fail should I have purchased a pre-owned vehicle instead.

perhaps i would be financially poorer, but i know i will be happier.
