As above, had a cousin who used to be a salesman in the PI new sales market in turf city, He informed me that the used car that their neighbouring workshops are selling are used by the salesman themselves as personal transport till a buyer is found on the vehicle..One wonders how reliable then is the used car u are getting as what is claimed on mileage and reliability... [:/]

yup some of them use it as their personal transport....and the dealer like owns the vehicle? since they bought the vehicle and imported the vehicle

Only a few months old with low mileage. There was worn pulley belt being replaced, There was spilled battery acid corrossion allover. The stock tire already shown excessive wear from high speed cornering/braking. Engine oil colour also suggested the same. Scratched under front bumper (likely hitting kerb)

Maybe the speedometer was also altered to reflect low mileage. [shakehead]

I have bought 3 used cars in the past. No big problems with the ones bought from Direct Owners. They are very helpful even giving advice after selling the car. Bad experience with a dealer. Promised to pay road tax for me but never. In the end drove the car for close to 3 months then realised he never pay the road tax at all. Worst is the car he sold me got problems here there and everywhere. Thankfully I had a clear mind to rectify most faults early during the ownership. Then again, not all dealers are so bad but most are.....

agreed with you.

I am a first time car owner with a very little budget to own a very basic car (as my job require a car). I just want to share my bad experience from recent purchase of 2nd hand Car and hope you won't fall into the same trap.

If you plan to buy 2nd hand car please make sure the dealer make or repair everything that you found not right before you make any payment. I collected my car at the end of last year and only after I took the car I found that the power window not working (within the same day), on the spot I called the Dealer Name: CHEW KC from KRUISE AUTO PTE LTD at Automobile Megamart #04-05, he said will help me to fix the problem. He asked me to go to his workshop on that weekend, the mechanic said got to order the spare part and it take 1 week to arrive. I had been follow up for 4 weeks already and he keep on saying the part still not arrive. The car is made in the country nearby and I dont think the spare part need to take 4 weeks to deliver. Just imagine how bad the sales keep their promise? How can this be happen in Singapore? How can the company allow the kind of people work in their company?

I am very sad with the experience and hope the friend out there think twice if u want to go to him or the company to buy ur car.

Send the car go STA or VICOM to do evaluation.. Else bring a experience fren along to check for u.. B4 u sign the dealer contract, state down some terms and condition.. Eg, Road Tax must pay, loan not approve deposit must return.. Evaluation grade must be A. blah blah blah.. [laugh]

[blush] This is how i assure my customer all the time..

other than sta or vicom, what other workshops are good for checking used car?

The consolation is: the car not quite roadworthy if the salesmen do not drive them once in awhile (tight pistons, sticking brakes...). Those used cars with re-newed COE can be among them

Dealers buy in the car without testing. They are also not mechanic by training. So it is actually the private owners who push their ill maintained car to the dealer in the first place. The dealers are just a trader who pass on the car to the next owner. They probably don't know the condition of the car.

AA and Vicom inspection is also a waste of time and money. What the inspector can tell you is also what an average experienced driver can feel from a test drive.

erm.... food stalls also sell you the food without testing... so they can sell you rotten food?

each person is supposed to be an expert in their own industry.... thus they should know better than the average person on the street.... it is not our fault if the company just want to hire any tom dick or harry....
