GLZT 6th Gear April 26, 2015 Share April 26, 2015 K5 FC... K5 fuel consumption is advertised as 8L/100Kms, but, mine is 12.5L/100Kms, which is in an average 8Kms/Ltr. To double check, I read reviews by various automagazines in Singapore, and most of them said 8.5 or 8.6 L/100Kms. I drive only in Eco mode with a view to save Fuel, but no use it seems. Can other K5 owners share their experience on Kia K5 FC? I get same as you. but abit lower. 12litres/100km. When I trash my car I get 13+. ↡ Advertisement

Tohto Hypersonic April 26, 2015 Author Share April 26, 2015 (edited) Notice I start this thread almost 5yrs ago. Today I sit in the facelift model at Expo. The car overall design still look very good and nice even after 5yrs. The design is much nicer than the new Hyundai Sonata. grizzlyc Neutral Newbie June 6, 2015 Share June 6, 2015 Gonna collect my ride next week. Even though FC seems to be a concern here but I still think K5 looks damn nice! Hope its gonna be a good car
CKONG1301 Neutral Newbie June 7, 2015 Share June 7, 2015 The K5 FC is 20% less efficient compare to Toyota Camry (6 speed auto). K5 will cost $20-30 more in petrol per week. This translates to $30*54week*10years=$16.2K(worst case). Camry is at least $20K-30K more expensive than K5, but more comfortable. If your work subsidized your petrol (like mine), K5 is a good deal.
grizzlyc Neutral Newbie June 19, 2015 Share June 19, 2015 Driving the K5 2.0L for 2 weeks already. Just send for 1k servicing. So far the ride has been good. My friends who saw the car were all very impressed with its built and features. Consumption wise, so far its ok. Im averaging around 11-11.4km/L for the first 2 pumps. Will update again after a few more times of averaging
K5G1 2nd Gear June 19, 2015 Share June 19, 2015 The current K5 is overall good value for money..., in my view. 5 years on.., and it still holds its place in looks! FC at between 9-11 km each litre, depending on where and how you drive, and without really being lightfooted all the time trying to "save"... is decent for its size, I believe. etc If FC is super-critical to you, there are continental (European) and Japanese models with dual clutch transmission and stop/start technologies that will be fuel-cost saving., but you pay more upfront to buy. K5's performance with the 2-litre engine... in terms of handling, acceleration, top speed, etc is mid-range or even slightly sub-par. The 2.4-litre would be "better" but drinks more and pays more tax! Too bad C&C doesn't bring in the turbocharged engine model..., better acceleration for sure I would think but probably drinks more if the turbo is engaged regularly. You can improve handling quite a bit by "upgrading" suspension.. with lower & ultimately stiffer (but progressive) springs, and co-ordinated heavier gas absorbers. Car will sit lower, goes into curves and turns loads steadier and generally will feel more "solid". But steering feels heavier at low speeds, and you will have to be careful with some road humps her & there in Singapore! Changing front seats or just driver's to be more sporty, more supportive laterally, and firmer will be good (just in feel only) but doesn't change the K5's performance and will put the original seats with cool/warm ventilation to waste.. Also C&C KIA service is, so far, complaint-free! Not "cheap" but not super-expensive. The new K5, yet to get to Singapore, reads like it will not be much different..., so I may well be tempted to try something else when the time comes. But... I can honestly say I enjoy my current K5. Cheers!
CKONG1301 Neutral Newbie June 19, 2015 Share June 19, 2015 I drove K5 2.4L for a year, FC is around 9.9-10.1L with ESSO 98, 50% CTE. I like the performance and handling but the 18" 225/45 tyre sound noisy compare to Camry. I can hear the 'roughness' of the road. Is that what you experience as well? I am thinking of changing to Hankook S1 noble 2 low noise higher profile (225/50). Any comment on this tyre?

You can always change to a set of quiet tyre.

I just try to give a 'description' of quietness. Any recommendation of quiet tyre tested on K5? ↡ Advertisement
