Kia K5

Actually.., for me a fixed, panoramic glass roof would work "best". No real need to open the sunroof.

Just like the light coming in.., which makes the car feel "roomier" somehow.

Definitely feels better... don't feel hemmed in... just not practical in our kind of weather...

I like how I'm able to open up a small gap in the roof to draw out the hot air after leaving it under the sun the whole day, more efficient than winding down the windows. But then again most people parking under sheltered area wont have a need for that.

Anyone knows where can get the fuse for used in k5? Can't get from autobacs. Ours is very small

Try the stockists... Min Ghee, or Song Yi. Both located at Verasamy Road... Little India area. Sure can get... a matter of whether you need to wait for stock. But the K5 shares the same platform as Sonata, and i45. I think the fuse design hasn't changed... so should be easy to get from stockists.

Rear passenger seat space for this ride is great.

Of course... it's one of the largest in its segment... only the rear headroom is quite low cos of the sporty sloping roof...

Any K5 owners year 2012 to 2015 here changed the HU?

Any recommended HU that looks best for our dashboard..

I found out that the old HU is unable to display some Chinese wordings.

However playback is fine. Just that the provided cable provides on and off connections ( Need to plug in and out 1 or 2 times before it can read your iPhone )

Supercharged

Bro... there are very K5 owners on this board... as there are really very few K5 owners in Singapore... just like there are very few Sonata owners although I think there are still substantially more Sonata owners compared to K5 owners...

If it's priced reasonably, why not?

I'm not a brand snob..

The current K5 is priced a bit on the high side.

If this GT model is price between 120-130k, I will bite..

I also dun think the GT will sell in Singapore.

Just look at the general buying mentality:

- Optima loaded with higher-end features priced at $120k-130k is considered expensive simply because it is a KIA

- Japanese 2.0 bare bone at $120-130k is considered reasonable and competitive (the equivalent upgrade to Optima's features would be about $140k).

So when people compare, most just look at absolute price and ultimately here (sad to say) still the brand.

Even if GT comes, the expectation of our market is it must be cheap. Why? Because it is a KIA.

The omv probably around 25-26k. You think sell 130k got margin?

Kia want market share or margin?

They can earn their margin through car finance , ins n etc.

Their Mkt Dept will handle this..

Take a leaf from MI , Forester model. How they play with the OMV....

Now selling so well..

Anyway, only C&C can decide..

We at the sidelines can only kpkb n zou xiao..

I think you're missing the point... as long as the car price is high, you can't sell in volume to justify the costs of bringing the car in... the Kia K5 was meant to be a volume model but it's sold like in the tens I'm guessing... I hardly see any new models on the road... this GT will sit higher in the price brackets... you're probably looking at $140K+... at that price range, you have many other options... not a soft GT that is neither sporty nor executive.

The K5 cannot be sold any cheaper cos the car is loaded with features that are factory fitted. The OMV is high and hence your car price is high. The Forester NA model is lower in price cos it's a bare version. What sells well is the turbo XT version. The selling point is the really powerful engine but it's not really full-featured as well... but for that type of power output, nothing comes close in terms of price. This GT is nothing compared to the power output of the Forester XT lar....

They know they can't be market leaders in the executive sedan market in Singapore at current COE prices... their prices are simply not competitive given their brand reputation... hence they will go for the segment where they can make it... hence a lot of effort goes to marketing the K3 as it sells in volume... the next model is the Carens diesel then the Sportage... the unfortunate thing is that the Carens case got upended by the change in government policy towards diesel... so they're basically left with the Sportage which looks odd... and doesn't really sell well... and of course they're betting their bottom dollar that the hybrid Niro will sell... but at the going price of $116K??? Nah...

I don't see how Kia is going to get more market share... it's a highly price sensitive segment of buyers that they are targeting... same for all the Japanese brands... car prices are very high, so a few thousand dollars difference will sway the buyer... for a better badge...
