Eviltrap 2nd Gear April 7, 2014 Share April 7, 2014 yup. Most dreaded sound. Switched to a manual. Really cannot tahan. For Brake part thats normal, thw squeaky sound was caused by dirts in the brake disc. Normal one And for crossing hump sound, i think its the spring problem So far almost every auto car I drive have that sound. Thanks for the assurance, guys! Then I'll just feedback the spring issue to the mechanics at C&C. Hopefully they will do something for it. ↡ Advertisement

Eviltrap 2nd Gear April 7, 2014 Share April 7, 2014 Anyway, I get that squeaking sound sometimes as well, didnt really bother much about it though. Actually, I don't get it all the time. Just intermittently. Today didn't even hear it at all. But that could because I was really going slow over humps. Only heard when my front plunge too fast forward. Just thought to get it settled before it progress to something worse. Which I hope not. :)
Teatreeoil 1st Gear April 13, 2014 Share April 13, 2014 Hi bros, one of the bros asked me about buying of k5 comparing the SEs in the two showrooms so I thought might as well share here. Actually I believe the freebies should be more or less the same. Just that the so called experienced se will try to 'cheat' u in ways that, if u didn't do your homework, they will 'makan' u in making more money out of you which I don't like. My se lied to me after signing the dotted lines and when confronted, he will always claim he is not aware of what happens in the management. So my caution to potential buyers of kia to be discerning and compare the se from both sides before signing the dotted line. The se I bought from offered standard items like ritecool solar films, Tom Tom gps. New car will come with car marts. The se only bought another set of car mats and visor after loads of feedback. When I told him I don't need the visors and if I can change for other things, the answer is no. What happened was that the car price kia offered online went lower in the next round after the cat b price went up (I purchased my car in the earlier one round). I bought at a higher price for the car than the price offered online which confuses me (most new car dealers prices went up or maintained and only kia lowered their k5 price) When I called to asked about it, he mentioned that he doesn't know that was coming as it came from the higher management (but For sale of the car I thought he has to consult the higher management before selling right, strange isn't it). Then he called back saying that he fought very hard for a 2k service credit. But when I checked with the se from leng kee, I was told it was standard that the 2k service credit will be given for any k5 bought. What a lie! I understand most Sale executives want to do more revenue for their dealers, but I believe integrity also plays an important role in reputation. How to recommend my friends to get the vehicles if kia se will says things like I didn't know and all is higher management decision. The consolation is that when I went for my servicing, the servicing agent (not the sale executive) service was excellent. And pls note that the tom tom gps u need to install on your own and it will not be done for u. The GPS will be passed to u in the box form. I spent about 40 dollars getting it installed. K3 has a video recorder installed (I believed it appears in the mirror) which k5 doesn't have. You may want to request for a blackvue video recorder (since k5 is their top end car which doesn't have a video recorder but k3 has) as one of the items thrown in. Installing it with the cost of video recorder is about 500 dollars. Potential kia new car buyers may want to nego for a price reduction to cater for that? Or ask the se to offer them? Ritecool u may want to nego for v cool or 3M? (Which are better solar films but cost more) Hope my sharing will put bros in better position and knowledge when bargaining for your ride. For bros who aspire better fuel consumption, k5 car may not be the one for you. It's about 8km per liter for me so far (mostly city drive with some occasional highway drives) Auto hold functions, ventilated seats, flexi drive and spacious of the car seats are some of the features I like about the car. Sunroof and moonroof too are great to have but not a necessity. Seats wise teana seats I still find the best. Cruise control is nice when it comes to highway. (My two cents worth of thoughts)

pjoanna Clutched June 18, 2014 Share June 18, 2014 (edited) Hearing Teatreeoil's comments on Kia...Made me wondered if we are lied by the same lousy SE at Alexandra main showroom? Our experience includes not only the boostful & ridiculous SE damn good in lying but also the Sales mgr who cover up 'with' him... Totally shaken up by this KIA SE that made us wondering why he need to cover up the fact that the new car has a faulty part... machine mass produce do have problem 1 in a 100 or 1000, solve it and compensate the delay with some freebies will close the case. Instead lying that a 12" snake was found??? 1 lie after another then a bigger lie to cover all??? Totally unacceptable! The only 'Goodwill' offered by the sales mgr is $500 service credit... this also considered freebie? Terming Compensation is a wrong word for the terror & anguish they set on us, 1st time KIA buyer waiting for the sophisticated good-looking K5 2.4 optima? 😤 Edited June 18, 2014 by pjoanna

Terming Compensation is a wrong word for the terror & anguish they set on us, 1st time KIA buyer waiting for the sophisticated good-looking K5 2.4 optima? 😤 Hi pjoanna, really sorry to hear about your unpleasant experience. After reading your 2 comments, I believe it boils down to the SE who attended to you. My experience was rather pleasant. Placed the order for K5 immediately after the COE bidding week, secured the COE in the next bid (opted for 6 bid non-guaranteed package), collected the car 2 weeks later. My actual collection date was 21 May 2014. I must say that I made about 4-5 trips to the showroom before signing on the dotted line. As what teatreeoil mentioned, know exactly what you want. Negotiate and clarify everything before committing. In my case, I wanted a in-car vehicle recorder. My SE suggested that I could get 1 myself and during my 1st servicing, he will see to it that the mechanic conceal the cabling properly. Got rikecool solar film and floor mat as freebies. Even on the day of collection, my SE spent about 90 minutes going through the features of the car (no joke, he really explained every available button on the steering wheel and head unit), and checked for defects at the same time. There is another thread posted by someone on new car checklist. Most of the things were covered so I didn't need to use the list. Because my solar film was installed a day prior to the collection, I was told to leave the car under hot sun for at least 48 hours before unwinding the windows. SE even pointed out some air bubbles and re-assured me that they will disappear subsequently (and they did). SE even recommended me mechanic whom he think is good for my servicing. To me, KIA is after numbers. They build good cars but somehow it doesn't entice the buyers. I feel that many people still perceive Japanese cars as more reliable. As for snake in the car story, I too feel that it is a bit far stretched. From what I was told, the next batch of K5 is arriving in August 2014. Did Kia give you an estimated date for resolving the ECU and snake issues?
SJYeo Neutral Newbie June 19, 2014 Share June 19, 2014 Hi, I just my K5 2.4 yesterday. Mine is Golden Beat color. It was indeed a great car. For 2 days I had drove about 400km. Going back to the customer service, my SE had done a good job, and he is very responsible and straight to point on every detail. From the date I booked the car and beat for the 4 June COE, it took me about 3 weeks to had the car delivered to me. Great Job by this SE.
pjoanna Clutched June 19, 2014 Share June 19, 2014 (edited) SJYeo, we met you that day when we placed deposit. You are the one who recommended us the metal skin emblem right? Glad that you got yr K5 and having a good SE to serve you. Next shipment is gonna be damn long wait.. We were as excited as you are until the whole 'snake' episode happened! We are going to lodge complaints for their unprofessional procedure and protocols after closing our deal. We are not going to collect the car until we get the 'snake' issue settled! YourBoss, I think after you got yr K5 ..our new batch has completed with windshield UV cut glass & solar door glass.. So no need to put on anymore solar film for our new car. We really like the K5 and hope our new car will be safe and enjoyable to drive but... Haiz... Hubby love the car so much that he paid deposit the 2nd time we went to see & test drive the car. He is not the kind of man that goes after high-tech gadgets or a sport-lover... I was reluctant to agree but it is too good an offer except for the logo. Sad to say... this SE was referred by a friend who recommended us K5. He get to know SE thru work, so we asked him to give us a name :( ... Btw, the part should have arrived today as told by the sales mgr during our last conversation. I'm hoping for a new car as it is too 'stressful' a memory to drive that everyday! So no need to put on anymore solar film for our new car. I believe all 2014 K5 windows are tinted and UV treated. You can tell if you wear a pair of sunglasses and look at the windscreen. From my layman understanding, UV treated does not equate to heat rejection. As such, I requested for solar film to be installed.
SJYeo Neutral Newbie June 20, 2014 Share June 20, 2014 Hi pjoanna, Good to hear from you. Since the part had arrived, it should be resolve and get your car on the road soon. I didn't know that!:-) no wonder even we have Vcool installed on our current Honda , I still can feel the heat. Thanks for explaining! Btw, We were not given any freebies ... Because the way our salesman presented the stuff..Seems like all is already packaged within the purchase of K5 2.4 .... Besides we are then overwhelmed with the 'gadget car' & concerned more about the safety of owning KIA! Now Kia has contacted us about our sale... I believe it is going to get ugly which is something we wouldn't want in the first place. The final trigger is when we gave the SE a final chance for him confessed about the truth, he refused to admit. Not sure when the car gonna be ready, no one has called us to update us about the car for now. Definitely gonna install car DVR but as for GPS we used our mobile or iPad is enough. So much stuffs already on board, don't wanna risk overloading. (after seeing so many cars on fire these days) Our SE told us, it is better we get wiring done by their technician in case the warranty maybe void if done outside... Not sure true or not but as K5 have some many airbags hidden within the interior panels... Maybe lor ! We still haven't buy our DVR yet anyway... pjoanna Clutched June 20, 2014 Share June 20, 2014 Hi SJYeo.. We have ordered the emblem too after hearing you explained how easy it is to be installed. Not sure true or not but as K5 have some many airbags hidden within the interior panels... Maybe lor ! We still haven't buy our DVR yet anyway... Vkool is a solar film. Car will still feel hot even with solar film installed. Just that it helps the car to cool down faster. I believe they have different grades. See the link below for Rikecool's products. http://rikecool.com.sg/our-film/automotive/ For the DVR, I am not suggesting that you get outside contractor to run the cabling for you. Negotiate with your SE, tell him that you will get your own. See if he can arrange for the mechanic to conceal the cabling for you during your first servicing. For a start, just plug the DVR directly to DC jack and leave the cable dangling till your first servicing (1000km, very fast one). Reason is because their authorised technician may not carry the brand you want. I was looking for front and rear recording (side not recommended for K5 due to air bags). When in motion, I want recording; at still, I want surveillance. Ended up paying for $480 a DVR with just front recording with no surveillance mode. pjoanna Clutched June 20, 2014 Share June 20, 2014 Yourboss.. Thanks for clarifying the differences! We are advised not to take the car yet... Does anyone here knows what is truly the importance of vehicle ECU? As we put our heart into believing KIA, this SE spoilt the whole mood. Hope the future servicing of our car will not be like this unfortunate event. One amazing thing is, at the time of our deal... We are just in time to receive the latest promo... 10yrs warranty on engine instead of 5 yrs. Incredible deal isn't it? No other brands here can compete with that, isn't it? That's the reason why we have no regret buying this car when we paid the balance payment.

pjoanna Clutched June 20, 2014 Share June 20, 2014 Yourboss, may I know where you got the car? Parallel importer or direct from C&C? SJYeo, may I ask is it your SE who fix up the GPS before you collect your car? Our SE says can fix up only when we go back for our 1st 1000km servicing. Also, Which brand did you buy... ? We are considering front and rear camera too! Now a joke to share, the SE even mentioned we should buy 4d for our new car... Bcoz snake represents Dua Beh Gong's pet! My last message here until administrator approved my first seven postings. Therefore thanks in advance for the moments! ↡ Advertisement
