Just wonder how many still stick with the format of using dialect name for your kids whom your parents gave you when you were young like Tan Lee Hoon, Yeo Kok Choon etc. I know some of my friend still use like Tan Guoping, Yeo Huimin etc. Or... you totally change your Tan to Chen or Lim to Lin for your kid?

For me, I am still using the dialect format. Reason is I wanna people to differentiate my kids from the FT or PR. :D

If you do not follow the dialect surname, down the road will your children be identifiable as yours?

Teacher: Huang Mingming, is this your father?

Mingming: Yes teacher...

Teacher: Thank you for coming Mr Huang...

Father: I am Mr Ng...

Teacher: Sorry... Mr Ng. (thinking: Mingming's mother remarried?)

number two format is like this...

Given name / second *(or middle) name / surname / hanyu pinyin...

which is

9 letters / 8 letters / 8 letters / 6 letters...

One of the names we are considering has about 13 strokes, first daughter is better though...only 11 strokes... :D
