YOG presents Singapore with an ideal opportunity to promote our country both regionally and internationally. moreover with the arrival of foreign athletes, spectators, media, tourism earnings are expected to increase and in the long run may bring in business and investment opportunities. This is something which cannot be seen overnight

officials eat at posh restaurant who pays?

sports equipments who pays?

condoms who pays?

R & R, who pays?

3 meals for sports ppl, who pays?

advertisement, promotion who pays?

sound systems, tentage, chairs & tables, who pays?

Hi All,

Why after spending S$385 million, this event does not click with Singaporeans?

What is the underlying problems, who is to be fault?

No one seems really interested in sports. Perhaps trying to psycho the youth to grow up becoming an aspirated sports man and woman lor.

Anyway, this is just monies spent to promote international branding and marketing campaign for Singapore as a whole. Seemingly good for the economy and international relationship. Also as a magnet to attract more FTs to come in to meet their desired numbers.

Advertising and Marketing fees not cheap, by the way.

Regards,

Hi All,

the problem is this : can u feel the $385mil around u ? I mean is there a new stadium ? no is there some new structures built ? no is the major construction to house the athletes like what we did in SEAP games ? no is there any major thing built that takes centre stage of the ballooned budget ? no.

what did they spent on that cost this much ?

painted lane 2

banners, flags, billboards, sprucing up run down sports centres, some purple buses, sg sports uniforms, wayang promo here n there,

read again garment offices not prudent withmoeny anyhow spend again.

looks like they shd audit this YOG as well. i'm sure its gonna be BIG...

this is why u can't trust rich people with ur money.

the atmosphere of YOG I get is some wind when the purple bus pass me by.

I think they spend most of the money in converting ntu into a jail with free flow of condom supply... [laugh]
