It is not only the company which has run afoul of the law, but also some 50-odd car owners who have been attracted to TTS Eurocars' buy-and-rent scheme. The LTA was responding to queries from The Straits Times which had highlighted the unusual sales tactic. The carrot to prospective buyers is that in return for making a new purchase, those burdened by existing car loans can rent out their existing cars through the firm's leasing arm to earn an income and thus pay off the loan. SimonTan 2nd Gear August 12, 2010 Share August 12, 2010 (edited) If its not part of the gov business group, it will be illegal. Last time got one smart man want to sell breakfast(beehoon and tao-ni) from his van near somerset MRT carpark. Gov says illegal, since car park is for parking car and not selling food, unhygiene food lah, blocking people lah.... OK fine with that. Then one fine day gov says ok, they will allocate parking lots near popular mrt stations for potential van breakfast scheme. Ok now selling food at carpark is OK, maybe gov is able to get $$$ issuing out licence so it beome legal. Gov says it will be fair to call for tender and everyone will get equal chance and there will be fairness. (Maybe gov dont want gangsters to chop popular spots and demand coffee money from new entrants) Call for tenders....the original business man was out bidded by many greedy people. Some lucky guys even proudly show off their expensive modified vans. Ok nevermind, good idea by one man now he is left out of the business he created. In the end the scheme lasted like only one year or so before it fizzled out, as more and more business close shop. Now come the greatest joke if I remembered correctly is that, the gov announced that since it was not a pupular/viable scheme as many has closed shop. So gov stopped the scheme and it faded away slowly. So you see....its not that its WRONG....its just that the idea was so fresh that the scholars are hitting themselves for not thinking of it first. So it is deem ILLEGAL....untill they can figure out a way to squeeze $$$ out from you then it will become legal. Kelove Neutral Newbie August 12, 2010 Share August 12, 2010 Can I just ask why people think it is a con? If someone can't afford to buy a house outright and want to get on the ladder surely it is a good option? _____________________ f150 wheels

In other countries you can U-turn anywhere unless they put a no U-turn sign . In SG you can only make a U-turn unless you see a U-turn sign.... Earn the money and keep quiet. http://singsupplies.com/showthread.php?p=282784 It is slime like you that decay the moral fabric in any society. Although I don't support the ruling party in every thing they do, a gov have a moral duty that it owes to it's citizen to protect their rights in their purchases so that the ill informed do not fall into unneccessary debt. It is also becos of ppl like you, who take on a job that is deemed professional but behave otherwise to unknowing ppl, who had the bad luck to have interacted with you, that leaves that particular profession a bad name. How am I able to tell so much about you. Simple. You leave a trail so obvious, that only the ill informed can't sense this out!

Mcf777 Turbocharged August 12, 2010 Share August 12, 2010 now those 50++ buyers who are in the schemes will have 2 car loan to deal with monthly . these owners deserve it! they should have sell away the old car first before buying another. If low price is a big factor for their exitsing car, they shouldnt have opt to buy a new or another car. They should have driven the old car till the end of the COE.
