Hi all car owners!

i am a new car owner and like many are quite a noob when it comes to driving arounf SG. Usually we end up "Holland"

But with the inventation of GPS, life become alot easier.

However, with so many brand/model of GPS on the market, which is the best of all, especially in the ever change singapore roads.

also additional features such as Malaysia map is also welcome.

will like to know the followings:

1) brand and model

2) price

3) aftermarket support

4) additional features

Not Papago... Garmin or Holux should be a safe bet...

There's no such thing as "the best" as there will be a "better one" launch one after another for such gadgets.

For SG navigation, Holux is highly recommended as some models come with live traffic updates(from LTA) which will help you avoid those congested and accident roads. Most importantly is the map they are using is from Sgp Land Authority or SLA which is most up to date. The Papago navigation software it uses is very user friendly. It will take some time for you to absorb the info it's feeding you and becos you are driving at the same time it's best you keep your eyes on the road instead. Most of the time I just listen to the turn by turn voice navigation and only glance at it when I need to know which road to take on a split intersection. See eastgear.com

I dun use these stand alone GPS devices as they are less mobile. I have been using smartphone GPS all the while as it is more pocket friendly. I had used softwares such as Mapking(Windows OS), Garmin and now Papago (on my iphone4). I can get live traffic feeds from apps like traffic@sg, carpark rates from carpark@sg and also apps at trafficCam. There are pros and cons for stand alone GPS device and also for smartphone GPS. There's no "Best" GPS like I said. You have to know what you want in these devices so that you can find one that best suits you.
