yokechye 4th Gear October 9, 2016 Share October 9, 2016 (edited) Thank you bro for the good advise.... my mileage not that high... monthly only around $200 there about Petrol... Yap, already check out the like of Orlando and Mit.... dont like them... haaaa After thinking through, agree that I should also look at Station wagon... unless I go for full size MPV (which I cannot afford), most or all the 3rd row mid size MPV 3rd row all cmi. So mostly will be fold down for boot space, which will be similar to a station wagon.(which should be cheaper??), except that the ride of MPV is higher and have better view. Any way, back to drawing board. A TC ride with around 1.4 to 1.6l think make more sense.... lower road tax and acceptable FC... Too bad did not check out the VW Golf 1.4 TSI DSG R-Line Variant when I was there... maybe next round pop by take a look. Opel Astra Tourer nice but no have moon roof/sun roof which the wife and kids like. Thanks for advise bro. I dunno what's your budget. But a golf variant is almost the price of the C4GP and Touran Trendline. I think you budget is about 120-130k max? Maybe can look at the Volkswagen caddy/ caddy maxi MPC. Space sure no issue. Nlatio Turbocharged October 9, 2016 Share October 9, 2016 You sound even more confused than I was bro.. There are no totally perfect cars. Have a budget, a few choices, then see what turns you on and don't look back, cheers. Not confused.... Very confused.... agree Bro no perfect cars.... am looking for one that suite my budget with the required stuff I looking for.... I dunno what's your budget. Antzng 1st Gear October 9, 2016 Share October 9, 2016 I would stay away from the vw caddy. It's a van pretending to be a mpv with its rear left springs and flat seats. There is no power sliding doors (omg!), no keyless entry and ignition system, no electric tailgate, no gps, no sun-roof or moon-roof, no side mirror markers..etc. And it's too expensive. Just my opinion.
MercutioV 1st Gear October 9, 2016 Share October 9, 2016 Caveat emptor.. But VW's clutch is the one which has been having issues. Well, someone over at the Carens forum suggests that the Kia dry clutch might be acting up as well (in similar scenarios in which the VW gearbox used to act up, i.e. heavy stop-and-go traffic): http://www.mycarforum.com/topic/2698474-kia-carens-2015-all-new-7-seater-arrives/?view=findpost&p=5945415 Anyway, this is the C4 Forum, so I shall stop going ot. therock Supersonic October 9, 2016 Share October 9, 2016 Bro If you have time, and you are not actually going to change your car in a few months / weeks, take a break and re-assess. No point fussing over reliability and other issues until you have to. However if you are going into showrooms with your checkbook, then you just have to decide on the balance of form, function and reliability. Like I said, if you need 7 seats and reliability, get the Wish. If you keep complaining about the looks and plastics, then set aside money for any potential disasters. No dealer will swear that the particular car that they are selling is 100% perfect and free from defects. Even a Bentley. So if you do have issues, you just need to know that you will have to take time off to repair, service, and resolve whatever comes along Can't hack it - again buy the Wish and stop dreaming and looking. You can't look at the hottest, high maintenance girl, and wish your girl next door has the same figure, and yet can cook, and has a good heart right? You decide what's important and enjoy the ride. Cheers

7hm Turbocharged October 9, 2016 Share October 9, 2016 Any main minus point??? Other than the usual wear and tear.... any major issues encountered?? Anyway, pop by VW today to try out the Touran and Sportsvan..... though they not as "high tech looking" as the C4GP, it got those clean layout which I am ok with.... but Touran is a bit out of my budget...... so may now consider 5 seater MPV or station wagon.... the Sportsvan is nice, but the boot space just not big enough... So its now diesel vs turbo charged engine?? TC prefer cause lower road tax.... haaa What about Golf Variant? I think it's not as tall as the SV though. U need to set ur expectation for a conti brand correctly when it comes to wear n tear. Their wear n tear replacement cost could be a major japanese car servicing cost. And, literally anything can be wear n tear I am a 2007 C4 owner btw. some jap parts and maintenance are expensive. and some Conti servicing/parts are as cheap or even cheaper than Asian cars'. No longer cut and dry. I believe Mazda owners complaining the servicing standard fees are high. I second that. Unless your mileage is high per year if not no point to get a diesel and se will never tell you how costly the dpf replacement if it gets clog. If your saving is like 100 or 150 bucks compared to previous petrol car then forget about diesel. For me the monthly petrol bill for my previous car was about 500 to 550 bucks per mth compared to my current 200 max for my diesel.. is a lot of saving for me and my annual mileage is 30 to 35k km. Your mileage is high due to running around to do your mobile service, right? I guess that is why commercial delivery vehicles are usually diesel. Besides the high torque being helpful for getting moving with all the goods.

Yes Bro, will pop by to try out the Golf Variant.... will then compare it with the Sportsvan..... found that the SV not bad, as it is smaller and lighter than Touran, will be more nimble. Wow, didnt know Mazda servicing is expensive... always thought jap/korean servicing is a lot cheaper.

My conti also would be expecting that much.

If both servicing around that price, might as well go for conti..... at least can drive shiok shiok, service expensive not so painful... But got to pray it don't nbzzz go report sick bay often.... But got to pray it don't nbzzz go report sick bay often.... Mind you this is for Mazda. I believe Honda, Nissan and Toyota are really cheap to service. Mazda also I think can be serviced cheaply at external workshops. Mine I mostly have to retreat to AD for service and get chop. Parts for my model are rare due to scarcity of my ride. But of course BMW, Audi, Merc, their dealership servicings are pricey. But I know Merc gives a decent amount of service credit that can offset at least a few routine servicings. No fault before 100k mileage, small problem occurs after 100k...fuel pump, turbo valve, engine leak, spark plug coil at 150k..all cost few hundred to repair each...other than that, all wear and tear item....parts is surprise reasonable for original part. As an example, original iridium spark plug at $14.5 each, igition coil at $53 each, air filter $22....still enjoy the ride, enjoy the power and high sleep at nshw....

Part of it depends on your annual mileage. 9 or 10 years won't be a problem with any modern car (regardless if jap conti korea etc) if mileage is low over that period. I sold mine when it was 6.5 years old in Apr this year, the C4GP served me well, it was one of the few affordable mini MPV which can accomodate 2 child seats together with an adult at the same time in the middle row. The car was quite problem free for the initial 80k km till topping up of engine oil (~1L/3500km) occured and this persisted till i sold off the car at 140k km. Other than engine oil & normal wear and tear, also had an aircon flap issue and a cracked turbo pipe. The car was traded in with CnC 6months ago, got the B180 as we no longer need child seats. Would have bought the C4P if not because we wanted to try another made.
