Turbocharged

I know this is an old forum, but I just came home and had bad experience with Mr Tailgater. High-beamed me at ECP though I was travelling at 100km- 110km, and no reason to since I was travelling at a reasonable speed, plus there were many cars on my left lane so there was no way I could have changed lanes. Finally got rid of him, and noticed driver went on to tailgate other cars. Same tactic---drive really close and high beam.

SJY 9382 M, yes, I'm talking to you! GET OFF THE ROAD YOU BLOODY BULLY!!!!

dude you'll be glad you are not driving in the autobahn in Europe with that mentality.. Cos you'll be booked by the police for not giving way to a faster car regardless of the speed.

It's basic driving ethics, if he has a death wish just give way and let him be.

for me if i didnt want over rev my car or speed up, i will signal left so the tailgater will know i am trying to give way and stop anymore highbeams.. and the cars on the left will give way to me if not i will just honk and cut....

but usually i will just full throttle n speed up... unless i am at 160-170km/h and kanna tailgate... then i will sure siam...

PIE towards Jurong before exit to Jalan Anak Bukit (Bukit Timah).

This particular exit is unusual. The exit is on the 1st lane or the overtaking lane.

When wanting to exit there i would avoid filtering to the right lane at the last moment. I would safely speed up to momentum and filter to right when there is ample or huge space to do so.

Some morons would speed up from no where to tailgate and highbeam and honk when i have already put out my right turn signal to indicate my intent to exit. By the way the flow of the 1st lane was already 95km/hr and i was pressured to less than 3 car lengths to the vehicle in front.(Clearly not enough space for emergency braking at that speed)

Still the moron tailgater continued with his juvenile prank. He/She is either so bloody short sighted and highly lacking of situational awareness or just plain STUPID or a person with cow-like IQ. There are huge signs indicating a exit way way beforehand.

So to all tailgaters... kindly inform your pals to watch out for this particular unusual right lane exit and stop being a bloody idiot harassing those who are intending to exit.

Do more to prevent tailgating

I APPLAUD the Traffic Police for issuing summonses to tailgaters for they are the cause of many accidents ("13,000 tickets for errant driving"; Oct 4).

I have on several occasions been tailgated while driving in the right lane of expressways at the maximum speed limit of 90kmh.

Even when I accelerate, the drivers would persist in their tailgating. I usually have to give way and move to the left lane as it would be foolhardy to compete with them. My life would be in danger and the lives of other road users as well. Besides, I would be violating the law.

I wish we could have anti-tailgating stickers distributed to drivers to promote a safer driving experience on the roads.

Soh Swee Kiat

can someone write into ST. "Do more to prevent roadhogging"

I PLEAD that the Traffic Police will isssue summonses to roadhoggers for they are the cause of many accidents

I have on several occasions been roadhogged while trying to overtake in the right lane of expressways.

Hwa Kin Kin

I believe Swee Kiat found a solution to tailgating

However, Kin Kin could be kidding with us. Unless he did crashed into the front vehicle when he accelerated.

To me, i see a road hogger as someone who remains at 90km/h in lane 1 of expressways.

someone who bloody ignores the whole world when he/she can jolly well move to lane 2.

Although Lane 1 is for overtaking purposes, anyone should have the right state of mind to give way to any cars driving behind you at a faster speed be it that the person is speeding anot. Whether if the person wants to speed at 200km/h or any speed which is way beyond the speed limits has got nothing to do with us. They risked their life behind the wheel as well as getting caught by the authorities, but what has it gotto do with us? Our role in fact will make all situations better by giving way isnt it?

I do encounter some driving "idiots" who simply ignore when the person behind tap slightly on their horns / flash beam requesting the idiots to give way but was totally ignored. This is one of the reasons which causes many in resorting to tailgating / going up in front of the idiot to do a jam brake, to show their displeasure. Most of us are too selfish i guess. This can be proven by the road conditions we see everyday

There was a driver who tailgated me last month. It was a raining, I was on lane one because I wanted to make a U turn. I kept 5 to 6 car length behind the front car. The front car jammed brake, I started to brake, I managed to stop my car to a complete halt with half a car length to spare. The rain was heavy and the road was wet.

That tailgater hit my back, my wife suffered whiplash. Her upper back swollen for a week, she could not

work or sleep properly.

Till today, that tailgater did not make a report to his insurance company. I have authorized my insurance

company to proceed to make a claim against him.

As far as I am concerned, you are a Road Hogger ..... Lane 1 is for overtaking and even if you travelling at 100 to 110 km/h, you are still hogging the car behind you.

The car behind you was not a road bully but you are a road hogger and you are also a cause of accident on the road with your hogging. If you want to cruise at 100/110 km/h, please stay Lane 2. No one will tail gate you if you are driving in Lane 2.

Ya, please keep to lane 2 or lane 3 if you're not over taking. Lane 1 is for over taking. I always give way if I saw a car coming behind even if i'm at 100 / 110. Just can't understand what's so difficult.

Ops, wrong. Lane 2 occupy by LGV at 70, that's why Lane 1 for 90km.. no more over taking lane.

Hoggers can appear on smaller roads too, doing 40km/h on a 50km/h road. haha.

Tailgater can also appear in the car park. Instead of leaving a 2 Meter gap, the leave only 1 Meter gap.

hahaha.

It is compulsory for either parties to make a accident report with your insurance company or assigned workshop regardless of whether you are claiming against the other party. I rem i saw in one of the paragraph of my insurance policy, failure to do so will result in losing 30% ncd as well as other charges

I have met one lancer who cruise at 70km/h in lane 1. And it resulted in whole row of cars behind jamming up. Eventually, I managed to change to lane 2 and overtook him. What is this kind of driver thinking? [hur] This type of drivers should be put off the roads....He is a liability to all road users.

In KL, we always say "The PJ drivers don't know how to drive". Of course I have heard that people from PJ saying "People in KL drive like pigs". hahaha.

It is the same like in UK. People in London just drive faster because they are being caught in the jam frequently, and time is precious as they are generally busier.

But once in the highway, they do let you pass very consciously. More so in UK than in Malaysia. I think Singapore is fine, just that a few guys are being 'programmed' to think that going beyond 90km/h the car will crash. in UK they do 80mph, on 70mph roads. in Germany there is no limit and malaysia you pay RM50 for no limit.
