I think the murder charge would be reduced to manslaughter charge eventually. probably jail term of around 10-15yrs..age of the offenders would be taken into consideration as well as how the circumstances leading to the slashing occured (if it was proven that darren was involved in some sort of provocation)..

Looks like it that way too. In capital cases, it must be without any doubt that the intent to murder was presence. I doubt the 4 of them had that in mind when they set off to meet Darren, even if they brought weapons along. There do not seem to have any plans to actually kill Darren.

 

Also, each of them will be defending as an individual. It would be nearly impossible to find out who has actually dealt the fatal blow, i.e the murderer and it would not go down well if all 4 are hanged if the actual culprit cannot be positively identified. So long as the doubt persist, it would be difficult to get a guilty verdict in capital punishment.

 

Darren's background and action on that day will also be scrutinized and used as a mitigating factor for the defence. Then the defendent's age and family background will be added to reduce their responsibility, citing lack of proper guidance etc.

 

In a way, this case is no longer about Darren but the 4 youths (or 3 if vegetables are not counted) in question. They have set off a chain of action no one can reset.

 

In consideration of what is available, to hang all 4 is unlikely, as much as I do not like the idea. But they will be put away for a long time. The scariest thing is that they will be released eventually and in all likelihood, a far worse threat to public order due to their 'glorified' history.

depend on the circumstances, and the statement given by all parties. im 90% sure it will be dropped to manslaughter. reason being, original motive was to hurt not to kill, and also victim challenged the attackers also and this will be taken into consideration.

 

 

there are so many cases of gang fights which end up in ppl getting killed. NONE of the accused was charged with murder. all dropped to manslaughter.

 

murder is when u plan everything from start to finish. theres no way these boys plan to kill someone in broad daylight in front of plenty of witnesses.

totally agreed. question is, how can the soceity help these people? yellow ribbon? or are they really worth the money, time and effort? we have seen how difficult it is for a person put behind bars 15 years to pick up and integrate into the society. how to get a job?

 

while the future cannot be predicted, what are the chances that all 3 or 4 of them will eventually turn good? you can imagine they will still continue to boost with 2 bar and show off.

Difficult to say, according to earlier rumour, Darren himself was armed with a chopper. I know, 2 wrongs does not make a right but will complicate the issue. Mob mentality on winning side, did not know when to stop.
