Your is a 2.5,maybe his car is a 2.0,he want to know if 2.0 change to 19",will the FC goes up...

250KPa is fine,for me i pumped 265KPa,for my 19"..

Thanks for pointing that out. In that case, the major cost is not the petrol consumption.

Changing 19 inch tyres are about 500 bucks a piece. Compared to 17 inch which is about 200 bucks.

That's about 2k vs 800 bucks every 2 to 3 years!

Now not so expensive for 19",Stock Bridgestone about $280 each,Yokohama about $250,the latest Michelin PS4s $350 each..

That sounds better. Reading the thread b4 buying last year, it was mentioned that it was 500 bucks a piece.

So there. No more excuses for not changing to 19 inch rims.

read from some where before the 17" mazda rim weight 11.7kg

About that, because these Rims are just Original Rims from Factory,Factory will never give High Performance Rims like Rays or Enkei for B&B Cars.

As follows are my record of the FC since my first pump:

post-188089-0-87705900-1493108852.jpg

The data points are too few for me to draw any statistically valid conclusion on the seemingly difference in FC across petrol grades, especially since the engine might still be running-in during its infancy. Nevertheless, the FC for Mazda 6 has been pretty impressive for its class and is close to the published figure of 5.9L/100km or 16.9km/L, so Mazda has been truthful in this aspect. I find the meter FC readings outperforming actual consumption, though the discrepancy appears to be narrowing. My wife and I are light-footed and our driving pattern comprises roughly 50% highway, but traffic jams along highway are not uncommon in our daily commutes.

So far, I have been refilling only when the ample warning light for low petrol remaining turns on. I read the car manual that the reserve tank capacity is about 9L, and based on the FC the reserve tank should be able to sustain another 100+ km, but the computerized indicative distance that the remaining petrol could run seems to disregard the reserve tank capacity.

Oops, I had meant amber, not ample, warning light, in my earlier post. I'm tempted to drive till the computerized indicative distance drops to zero for remaining petrol and observe what other warning will turn on, since I believe it does not account for the reserve tank capacity. However, I also do not want my silly experiment to land me stranded on the road out of fuel. Maybe there will be more adventurous brothers here :)

Never use until too low level, our Fuel Pump needs fuel to 'cool',may wear off the pump faster,if level go too low,too often.

wow your fc is really impressive.. my best is only 11km/L (meter at the end of a tank) and i guess my tire/rims change + sound proof material does contribute to this poorer fc.

Did you activate I-stop ?

Did you activate I-stop ?

I leave it on by default, although I would deactivate it if I'm stuck in a crawling traffic, as I'm concerned that too frequent turning on and off of the engine over short distances would do more harm to the engine and deplete the battery, than help to conserve fuel, even though they are built to sustain i-stop operations. I've also adapted by avoiding hard-depress of the brake pedals when stopping momentarily at red traffic lights, so that the i-stop will not kick in, if I figure from adjacent traffic that the red lights are going to turn green in a couple of seconds.

I actually hope that the i-stop feature can be more intelligent, as there were frustrating times when i-stop kicked in though I was stopping the car just to either let passengers alight or switch from forward to reverse gear when parking. Nowadays I would deactivate the i-stop before I make very brief stops.

You may wish to consider over inflating your tyres at the expense of ride comfort. In the case of 17" stock wheels and tires, tyre pressure of 230kPa is recommended for equivalence of 3 adults in the car, but as explained in an earlier post, I've been maintaining 250kPa and have not felt any obvious degradation in comfort. Nevertheless, the increase may be too insignificant to have any major effect on FC, but I made the change not as an attempt to improve FC, but rather as a compromise for occasional full load.

I could not find any off button for the radio and CD player in the 2017 model. Long press on the mute button does not seem to turn them off. Worried that CD may get jammed in the CD player if I were to switch off the engine without first turning off the CD player when it is playing, I found a way to turn off the radio and CD player by leaving my mobile phone headset plugged in the auxiliary port under the arm rest and selecting the auxiliary port whenever I want to turn them off. You could plug in a spare headset that you no longer use. Are there any other ways that you have to turn off the radio and CD player?

The radio will then be playing even if muted; I belong to the old camp that prefers to turn off all electrical appliances (audio, aircon, fan, etc) if possible before I switch off the engine.
