A Minisrty For Trnasport Spokesman - Tan Ah Chee

Nowhere in the world do you find a city like ours. From a backwater fishing village with bicycles as the primary mode of transport, we gradually evolved to $100,000 Corollas. Nationalism was created with our "Vehicle Ownership Scheme".

The car ownership experience is a powerful way of bringing people together, and in rooting people to the larger community. Beyond providing basic transportation needs, the Ministry also build ERP gantries to facilitate smooth travel.

Over the years, the Ministry reviewed its policies regularly to meet the evolving needs of Singaporeans. For instance, the Ministry sensed that the 7 year loan was pricing many young aspirants out of the market. This led to a whole new slew of rules & regulations designed to make sure that car ownership is affordable to the people by using the DSR (debt service ratio). We now boast one of the highest penetration rates for car ownership in the world.

The Ministry believed firmly that

You think you'll get a reply or will they do anything?

At most your reply will be a templated answer.

Just mark your X wisely on the piece of paper during erection. It is more probable to see changes than writing in.

Yes, put yr 'X' very carefully.

Put it in e wrong box n u end up wh another 5 years of prices of everything getting more expensive n income getting less due to competition fm cheap FTs.

The only pple who can b sure of higher salaries wil b our clever n hardworking minsters. All other stupid n lazy pple wil suffer in silence.

Hmm.... i wonder how many of the folks you gave in the example are out there....

the facelift Altis has been in the market for a few months already, and i'm hardly seeing any on the roads.....

oh, by the way, the Altis and Jetta are selling for roughly the same price, with $10k differentiating them.....

i suppose most would go for VW's....especially the Jetta sedan, or the current best-selling VW model, the Touran MPV....

people still have that stigma with Citroen, Opel and Renault i guess....

ya agree, cannot put the blame on us young driver, last month when i come back from woodland after some late supper.

there is an old uncle like in the 40+ wind down window, and with a cigarette out of the window, overtake me and press brake, and then come beside me again, like he own the road. as is already very late at sembawang road, there is no car, so i see no road hogging, as i am already like on 80km in the middle lane.

maybe he is trying to impress the lady he hook up some where, that his 2.4 litre super toyota camry, and bully small little car like mine

Ya prob some old hasbeen ah beng trying to show his new gf he still got what it takes to b a bully.

U sud hv just pulled in fronf of him fr a few seconds n then floored e throttle. He prob cant even see u properly pulling away so fast, he need to put on his bi-focal spectacles to see what is happening.

Then his 'gf' tell him, ''Uncle u so old already. Cannot even see properly want to try to impress me. Aiyah dont waste my time n send me home now''.

That wil teach that old fart a lesson. :D:D

erm...i think going to msia for the cheaper alternatives, doesn't means that all of them are scrimping...but i rather feel that it's a short vacations at a reasonable affordable $$$.

My point is that based on that jam i had faced, you can see a fat dragon of SG cars, just based on that Tuas link-> JB customs.

Dunno leh. I go Msia all e time fr all those cheaper things i mentioned. Hahaha [rolleyes]:D:D:D

Only way to control COE is to ask our GARMENT to intro a limited number of new applicant applying for driving licence. Just like going for examination in school. If new applicant doesn't meet the requirement just throw away the application.

No new driver mean no purchase of new car or used car. that is the way.

GARMENT using COE to control buying power is just NOT right honestly...guess everybody know is all about $$$$ lor...

GARMENT should formulate a max number of new driver, meaning each year GARMENT will only allow about 500 to 1000 new drivers to be ABLE to qualify for driving test, if they fail, they will have to go thru the whole cycle again and thus this will help to ease our traffic jam, traffic accidents.

Not only this will help new driver to treasure their licence, it will also give a signal to all old drivers if they have their licences revoke. They will have to wait for years to have their chance for a driving test. It creates safety driving instead. Good right?

This restriction also able to increase the revenue of all public transportation, because old driver had their licence revoke and public transports are the only way for their travelling needs. So why not intro this ASAP????

I really don't wish to buy a car where i need to fork out another sum of money to buy a piece of paper worth the more than the OMV value>.Is crazy man!

Gosh...can somebody speak up??? can somebody write to our GARMENT?

Nice idea but naive...No license, can also own carS. Have license, can also own many carS.

COE is not about controlling buying power...you will have the buying power no matter what, it is what your buying power can get you. When COE at $10k, you can get you a nice entry level 2L conti, when COE at $30k, you can get a 1.8L Jap car, when COE at $50k, you can get a 1.5L Jap car, when COE at $100k, you can a Chery QQ. Just kidding, no way I am gonna pay $100k for a QQ.

Wait for old farts to have their license revoke, take public tpt and earn cents or make $50-60k in open bid. Which is easier and faster way to make $$$? [:p]

No point writing or speak up, gahment will tell u it is the market force that decides COE prices, not them. They just say they cut quota, to buy or not to buy car is up to you.

and beside the 2nd hand car market is not totally getting the impact for the high coe yet, i was browsing through some 2nd hand car, and find that the pricing for 2nd hand car is still low.
