Nowadays, the heavy vehicles drives very fast and they are always on the faster lane instead of keeping to their speed limit and stays on the extreme left lane. Encountered many many times with these drivers on Lane 1 speeding away like nobody business. I am hoping that TP will take stern actions against such drivers as they are a danger to the other drivers on the road. Drice Safe .............. lane 2,3, 4 closed to traffic. as i only see the dead body under the lorry, therefore do not know whose fault is it. on the left of the accident, i think there were 2 other vehicles too. whether they are directly involved or not also not sure ↡ Advertisement Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...

Kyrios Turbocharged January 17, 2011 Share January 17, 2011 Yesterday a F1 truck driver driving those trucks with a refrigeration unit attached behind chiet me on the right lane at 100km/h....then on those rare occasions saw a TP WRX parked at the side of the expressway..the humji truck driver guai guai filter to my left and travelled at their rightful speeds...basteurd. Time for TP to do what a real law enforcer should do..time to come out on the roads to do some serious patrolling. I echo that. It is unreal how many heavy vehicles there are on Lane 1 nowadays. With so many complaints about these drivers, I just can't help but feel that our TPs are totally switched off and no longer bothered about road safty as their priority. Read this thread, http://www.mycarforum.com/index.php?showtopic=2656066 which is a good example. Apparently complaints were filed and had been going on for the past 1 year, and till today he's still driving recklessly on the roads. Even if there are no witness willing to testify in court, the cameras inside the KPE tunnel should have recorded sufficient evidence to nail this guy. See the bo chap attitude of our TP? They are not willing to ambush or even bother to review the camera footage. What I can say is, even if they throw out the statistics on how many summons they've issued, it still doesn't reflect the real situation on the roads. Either they are totally no longer bothered or they've lost control of the situation. Worst, they've become cowards, too afraid to pursue these heavy vehicles for their own safety, just like SAF Cat 1, all seek shelter. (SAF can be understood since it is peace time training, but TP is in operations mode). Lack of manpower is not a valid excuse to use now. If we see TPs stopping and booking vehicles on the roads at almost every minute and still can't arrest the issue of speeding vehicles, then I would agree they do have a manpower issue. For now, their presence are not even felt, so you think these heavy vehicle/lorry drivers fear them? If TPs had been more proactive, after these drivers are caught and with only 6-12 points left, they would have behaved themselves, unless they are not afraid of losing further points and their licence eventually. Some of them are not even displaying the sticker anymore. Makes no difference and no worries for retrenchments within the enforcement departments since they are not enforced anyway. I only see one organisation's vehicles still "faithfully" following the speed limits of 50kmh and 70km/h without making any noise. I guess they may have a SOP (unwritten one during their daily briefing) to look after themselves and take care while on the roads. It'll be up to each individual TP to interprete what that means, so most would have assumed it is too risky to pursue a speeding truck/lorry, so they ignore them. In industrial areas like Tuas, too many of these vehicles again and their vehicles are too small sized, so they take care of their own risks and avoid chasing these vehicles. Therefore, end of the day, all the risks are transferred to the unfortunate drivers or motorists that got involved in a collision with these giants.
