Definitely, like the viaduct they built that linked Lornie Road with Bartley Road?

Vhtfhwlego Supercharged January 20, 2011 Share January 20, 2011 Smart way to keep the construction business alive after IR is almost completed. Without these projects, many business will sure to suffer.
Bystander50 5th Gear January 20, 2011 Share January 20, 2011 my grandma's area named tasek utara estate and norfolk road estate(located near moulmein n bukit timah exits) were cleared in the 80s for the construction of the CTE and even then in 1985 i heard some residents saying tat wif new estates being built in bishan, expansion of AMK,Yishun, Sembawang,Woodlands, Hougang,Serangoon North, and later part Punggol n sengkang, the CTE would not be wide enough to cope wif the plans of the Govt to relocate people to the north of spore, wat was needed was a flyover from say yishun or woodlands onwards all the way to moulmein to ease congestion at the moulmein exit n entrance all the way to AMK especially braddel exit n entrance, PIE entrance n exit located at CTE.... guess scholars at LTA couldnt spend a day jus seeing wif their eyes wat was happening at the jams everyday even wif the ERP.... What to do, the scholars are very straight, can't be innovative. Everything must follow what book say, cannot look at other alternatives. Everything must follow "international standards" to the last fullstop to cover backside. If they had built a 2 tier CTE (one with exits for short haul, the upper tier for long haul), it would have doubled the capacity and better catered the residents in the far north. At least we can delay the congestion for some time. At least the 2 tier highway from Telok Blangah to West Coast worked to relieving some traffic congestions. Bystander50 5th Gear January 20, 2011 Share January 20, 2011 Now let's guess where will they set up the ERP gantries The easiest guess and bound to be correct - KPE's example - at all the entrance and exits. They may even do another "singapore first", at every segment of the expressway.
Bystander50 5th Gear January 20, 2011 Share January 20, 2011 There will be a phase 2...the map says 'northern segment' which there is be other segment eg. southern, eastern, western, etc... Hope so. Just wondering if there are already plans, why don't they build it all at one shot? Didn't a former transport minister said before it is cheaper to build now than later. Are they waiting to do a fund raising?
Bystander50 5th Gear January 20, 2011 Share January 20, 2011 Isn't the NSE a mix of underground, overground and partially under kind of expressway? I don't see how they can construct the whole stretch above ground. But if the NSE runs parallel between CTE and Upper Thomson Road, where's the Thomson MRT Line going to be placed? How deep is the ground beneath us? If all the upcoming MRT and Expressways are underground, what's beneath us is no more ground, but pure concrete. Don't forget that we have sewage as well beneath us. Some parts of the Circle line is running above the KPE tunnels. Ever exited from the Circle line stations and noticed that they are very deep underground compared to the NE and old MRT lines? The ground under us will be hollow soon, soon we may probably encounter a sink hole appearing.

Tigershark1976 Turbocharged January 20, 2011 Share January 20, 2011 I thought they are going to scrap the ERP and implement GPS-pay-as-you-use? ERP is only in the CBD areas NO? it could be, "pay so long u own"..... with the GPS, they can even scrap the coupon/ gantry parking system... so, even if u r parking, the charges will keep on rolling. Mustank Hypersonic January 20, 2011 Share January 20, 2011 i was thinking the same. the jam is from braddel to city. onwards is quite moveable. i think things will still be:
Mustank Hypersonic January 20, 2011 Share January 20, 2011 locate people north, build more city centre in the south doesnt it looks like an hour glass heavy on the top and wide at the bottom until the day we see decentralisation of city centre. this will be reality
