F355 Turbocharged January 20, 2011 Share January 20, 2011 Isn't the NSE a mix of underground, overground and partially under kind of expressway? I don't see how they can construct the whole stretch above ground. But if the NSE runs parallel between CTE and Upper Thomson Road, where's the Thomson MRT Line going to be placed? How deep is the ground beneath us? If all the upcoming MRT and Expressways are underground, what's beneath us is no more ground, but pure concrete. Don't forget that we have sewage as well beneath us. Overground (viaduct) from Admiralty to Lentor Ave only. After that either on ground or tunnel all the way to city. They only showed us the section up to Toa Payoh; in future will be extended all the way to city. Location of Thomson MRT line; can refer to maps in post 53. Can't imagine the amount of inconvenience it will bring to the residents in the next 7-8 yrs. My plan to move to YCK can hold on liao, the value Castle Green and Nuovo sure drop... Why can't they build the NSE just in parallel with SLE and CTE but running underground like KPE? Just imagine cutting a E-way right through a heavily populated area...alamak. I'm just happy that there will eventually be another option to travel out from the Northeast. They have already collected many many years' worth of COE/ARF etc, the money is more than enough to build a few more such expressways few years ago, not by 2020..... what's happened to the money all these years?? they should be transparent and tell us where they have spent it, nothing to be ashame of .... nothing to hide.... .... why the silence?? Still so long, dun know the current high volume of traffic still can cope or not?! from now till 2020 jams will grow and grow ---> ERP charges will go up sky high.... more money will flow into gahmen's pocket now till 2020..... such money collected over the past two decades is more than enough for this new expressway, but the additional money (ERP revenue) from now till 2020 will find its way to somewhere, question:- where??? Maybe should live on the water surrounding us.... convert some older ocean liners to floating condos..... residents can ride skijets to CBD, or take ferries.... if the floating condos is off-shore (ie outside singapore water, can have casinos etc.....) The new expressway - with construction expected to start from 2013 and finish by 2020 - will run parallel to the Central Expressway (CTE) to serve the north-south corridor, as announced by the LTA on Wednesday. Careful planning has been conducted to determine the alignment, planning and engineering requirements necessary to cater to the densely populated areas that the NSE will run through. Efforts have been made to ensure minimal impact to the public. Planning, engineering and alignment studies for the southern segment of the NSE are still ongoing. When completed, NSE will be Singapore's 11th expressway. Now, the CTE - the only expressway serving the north-south corridor - experiences heavy traffic in the northern and central part of Singapore during peak hours. Even with the CTE widening project being completed by end 2011, traffic along this north-south corridor is expected to continue growing. Another mistake by not employing end-users feedback? I believe non-end-users depending on library books employed in the design to repeat the same mistake and the other expressways. You're right. And first of all, the government should be the organisation to provide the infrastructure in any countries. Our government is not that poor unlike those 3rd world countries that do not have the money to build proper roads and infrastructure. If ERP is used to collect back the investment, then road tax should be reduced further as the name implies, taxing on road use. Like the MRT lines, government use public funds to build, then hand over to private firms to manage and they made a profit out of PUBLIC funds.
