Yet Another Subaru 2F2F accident

It is one thing to have aftermarket exhaust, and quite another to have aftermarket exhaust certified by LTA. Unless the supposed certified aftermarket exhaust has been further tampered with thus rendering it illegal. I happen to know quite a few people who are doing this. If accident, too bad liao.

Is what you are describing a recent phenomena? I'm fortunate that my last claim experience was 15 years (touch wood that it will continue to be so).

and do you know that if a modified car that fail to inform their insurance company about the modification

and suay suay the car hit your car

the insurance company can discharge themselves from paying the other parties

meaning you can only claim through civil suit to the driver

it was reported a few months ago in the papers

Are you sure about this? If this is the case, then insurance can oso not pay if you have a BBK, or maybe even a set of after-market rims! I dun think so lah. Anything that is certified legal or allowed by LTA should have no bearing on the outcome of the claim.

cos there's a requirement by the insurance companies for customers to declare all modifications, even if they are legal... if not declared, then...

mine would be 10k under my name. instead is 2.8k under my dad 50+ yr old with close to 30 yr driving experience and 50% NCD +5% clean record. so is really quite crazy.

...do shop around... I'm paying about half of that and I'm quite a bit younger than your dad...

actually i am covered. there are cheaper options but those only allow my dad to drive.

in any case, i didn't declare my fujitsubo exhaust to insurer. though LTA legal, anything not bone stock, the insurer might deny claim. oh well... i know someone who wrecked a wrx (illegal mod) but they faulted him for his LTA cert HKS exhaust...

makes me slightly tempted to swop back to stock exhaust and just do a ECU tuning. since this is likely to be my first LTA legal ride [sly].

Wreak a car, understandable leh. But if normal accident like backside kenna bash, then cannot fault his exhaust right?

Hmmm maybe the exos of the front car is shiny, big, fat, long and strong, then the behind car driver is a lady, thought her bumper is her mouth or pussy leh? [laugh]

The point is not the mods, its the "primary" driver. If the insurance is in your dad's name, he is considered the primary driver, but if in reality he seldom drives and you have daily use it is considered "cheating" the insurance company.

Based entirely on your post (that's all the info I have) when you say "MY" car insured in Dad's name, if the insurance company were to find out they could (not would) deny claim.

For mods, the general rule of thumb is that the mods must have altered the performance or been relevant to the accident for the claim to be denied. Naturally though, as a general rule of thumb the insurance company will only replace with "stock" parts

alot of ppl think wrx cars are formula 1 cars...but in reality they are more suited for gravel tracks

you're kidding, rite? you must be thinking of WRC or something... WRXes are certainly not formula one cars, but the road car is tested on the track, not some gravel stages...
