Pea01 Neutral Newbie March 7, 2011 Share March 7, 2011 Well, the review puts it as the new Avante having the steering feel and response just lacking behind the Mazda 3. and Yes, please live in the present. There's no point looking back at the past of low COE prices. We live in the now, not past. New Avante 1.6L $79,999. HOnda Civic 1.6- $110,900. Toyota Vios 1.5J- from $79,988. Toyota Altis Classic- $87,988. Totally agree! Let's not look back and start looking ahead. Sadly but the true fact is that COE of 30k to 40k is here to stay...and 80k for avante is really normal and decent. ↡ Advertisement

If SE offer u less than 70k for the current avante, maybe u can accept it cos that is quite a saving. else go for the latest model....

Expertz 1st Gear March 9, 2011 Share March 9, 2011 i think that at 80k its a far better buy than anything else in its segment toyota has vios and altis, vios is seriously small while altis is still using a backdated design + 4 speed auto honda has fit/jazz in the class but obviously the avante is far better than a fit/jazz nissan has latio which is fuglier than fit/jazz the MIJs have nothing in comparison i like the new avante's interior but i don't like the outlook, also going by the current avante the new one should be just as light with 130bhp mated to such a light car, 0 - 100km/h might be able to hit 10s while retaining the same superb fuel consumption overall i think its hard to fault the car
Spurman Supercharged March 9, 2011 Share March 9, 2011 Looks nice in pics overall. No design flaws at least for my eyes. Anyway to see the actual car in Singapore, I heard coming in end of this march. I think it will be a hot favourite. Cheers guys

Joseph22 Turbocharged March 9, 2011 Share March 9, 2011 I guess too many are sore abt the price having missed the boat. In current context, I think the new Avante is a pretty good buy at 79K any 1.6 is good deal below 80K with current COE. remember when COE is around 10K, 1.6 is selling around 50K. now COE raise 30K. below 50K is just right. The Facelifted Forte has lots of features, but the high selling price and the fact that this car was launched since 2007 and still looks largely the same now (so that's a 4yr old look now) means people are either A) Looking elsewhere to shop for their car, or B) Waiting for the new Avante to arrive in showroom. Proton_neutron 1st Gear March 9, 2011 Share March 9, 2011 (edited) Actually i really don't know how to differentiate btw a pre-facelift and a facelift forte? LED Tail-lights for exterior. Interior wise, you'd see that there's leather covering the gearshift, Call and reject buttons on the steering wheel, and paddle shifters behind the steering wheel. I'm beginning to feel that Kia is like a white good (e.g. like a laptop computer). The moment it's launched, Kia has plans to launch an even better equipped car. So the moment you buy the launch car, 1-2yrs down the road, the car maker introduces a better featured car for the same OMV and money, and your car immediately loses more money in the 2nd hand market. Zirano Neutral Newbie March 9, 2011 Share March 9, 2011 Honestly if is me I rather go for the latest model. For new models, your resale in future will also be better. If u intend to sell in 2 to 4 yrs time and at the same time old model in the mkt, I m sure your car body value can get slightly better price. In terms of Specs, I think 6 speed should hv better fc. Not sure what current model speed is. And I saw the 130hps so is pretty decent. In terms of exterior, honestly the new one really looks better. See if you can test drive the new model to get the feel. I think by test driving u should be able to judge better. Juz my humble views... Thanks bro Pea01 and all the rest of bros advice me to get the new model. I've top up 7K and done the pre-order for the new Avante which will be coming around May/Jun but not yet confirm. But this pre-launch Avante confirm no GPS, no Bluetooth, digital controls for AC is still a question mark. and many other more are still question mark. they still can't confirm with the arrival date to SG and the spec. anyway, noob like me have made the order. :) ↡ Advertisement
