But when the car is beside some bland-looking Japanese, they still look different [:)]

Nowadays even the French has started to go bland, which is quite a sad thing...

Well, not that the French's styling has gone bland, but they're making cars that seem like it's rivals. There's not much to differentiate them now.

But it seems that customers want their French cars to blend in with rivals.

But i think that most people love the French design language, the things that make people hate them is their reliability... The JD power survey in UK for example, French always sitting at the bottom in terms of customer satisfactions and most problems are due to electrical.. [:(]

You have to understand that the French don't put working as their priorities in life. They spend more time with festivals and friends&families.

So how can you expect them to make a perfect car? Or at least one that is reliable?

But they've really improved over the years. So reliability isn't really a problem for their cars now.

Fluence did surprise me when I sat in the car. The whole package of the car is attractive. Large exterior, good quality interior, spacious rear seats.

The new Avante actually is the same length as the old Avante. 4530mm.

Depends on the various car models. 4.6m may mean larger interior space, or more boot space, or longer engine bay. It all depends.

But one thing that is hard to ignore, is the massive road presence for a 1.4L-1.6L sedan.

The Fluence is quite a good buy for Japanese car buyer... However considered that the car is made in Korea, I won't be paying that much money for the Fluence when Avante and Forte is about 10k cheaper... Same story goes with the Latitude which looked so much inferior in design besides an i45 / K5...

2008 AVante is 4505 whereas the 2011 is 4530mm...

The Fluence is only a French car by name. The Fluence is essentially a Samsung SM3 re-badged to Renault for export, it is not a French car but a korean car. I doubt that there is much influence by the French on the design and manufacturing of the Fluence.

Yup but it will take some time for it to prove itself...

Fluence is using Nissan's engine also... :D

You still see them everywhere even till today. As many as E-Class, 5-Series, S-Class and 7-Series. Hahah!!

talk about common, last saturday on my way to office at joo koon, on pie alone saw 3 7 series (one with very new number plate, SKB 8xxx )..

and the funniest thing was along TPE/SLE/BKE/KJE/PIE, met 3 road hogging jazz/fit and all 3 driven by woman driver.... what a coincident.. [laugh]

Nah, i think 7-Series is getting a bit too uncomfortably common on the roads. Like each time i see them, I'd just go yawn. It's just another 7-Series.

As for the road hogging woman driven Jazz/ Fit, I think that's common too. Hahah!

I got the New Avante 2011 spec comparison chart to current model and also vs current 6AT forte. from the SE. I didn't know much about the engine until the SE pointed out this New Avante 2011 come with MPI D-CVVT 1.6L 130hp @ 16.5km/L f/c. It look like the differences is the MPI VS DOHC and D-CVVT VS THE current CVVT. Anyway most of the car owners will look for the updated design and features and suitabilities rather than the engine as their first priority atleast for myself. The engine will leave it to their Engineers to Crack their Head lol.

I think the only update to the engine is the D-CVVT, which increases some horsepower and suppose save a bit more fuel. Just like what Toyota did to update the current Altis.

Other than that, everything is the same.

Just to point out, it is the same MPI (Multi Point Injection) rather than DI (Direct Injection) bound for the engine. <_<

130hp for 1.6 is quite decent [laugh]

But we still don't know whether it is the new Nu engine or the same Gamma engine...

Should be based on the same engine. If it's a new engine, the reliability is going to be a back to start questionable doubt again.

should be the same gamma engine, just added with dual VVT and VIS. Because nu engine is designed for 1.8 and 2.0 applications. and gamma is for 1.4 and 1.6.

http://www.motortrend.com/features/auto_ne...ault/index.html

but anyway, take the power output with a pinch of salt bah. for such a small displacement engine to produce so much power, the power have to come from the high revs, and hyundai isn't known for engine refinement for such revs.

But i don't think you are going to rev your engine frequently in day to day drive... The i45's engine can sound coarse as well but it is somewhere at 4k rpm... For normal driving i don't think you will need the 130hp as much as the 15x Nm from the engine... Both the Forte and Avante are not lack of low rpm torque... Just that it has became a habit for Hyundai to have class-leading output [laugh]

After so much of technical discussion and explanation regarding this Gamma Engine, I still wonder what is the selling point for them to highlighted this particular Engine as though they are introducing a totally New Technology on this New Avante 2011. Can anyone enlighten me? [laugh]
