Anyone notice the metal rattling sound when the car first started up cold? It's sounded like timing chain grinding. It happened to me when the car has parked overnight or engine is cold. Lasted about 2 seconds from the moment you hit the start button. I heard this in my car and a demo at MI.

Yes, my too. I asked the service adviser during 1st k servicing n he(mr chai) said that is normal for OB & only OB have but he forgotten which part of the engine created the sound. I will ask another SA when do the 5k servicing. However, any bro can check if u r doing servicing soon.

Did SA say this will run-in and then go away? Or is it permanent due to the design/ structure?

Turbocharged

âð¼ï¸More pearly white... Haven't collected car, SE told me mine is the later batch to secure COE so wait until 20-May to collect car.

Ps. Thinking of the side-protector/ side-body bumper too... Let me know if anyone keen to GB? Xie xie

Any bros have fed back on the body swaying? I read some forums and they said OB sways a bit when traveling @80-90km and above and when you roll the steering wheel left-right. Any bros any feedback?

Am interested in the side protector/side body bumper GB

He said thats permanent n due to one of the part/structure and it will not affect the engine or performance.

If anyone of you going to service your ride, can dun mind to help ask them and then share with us here.

Quick question. Got any Subaru/ outback Facebook group or something?

Groups form when there's critical mass. That's why the Forester and XV groups are on fire. But the Outback doesn't seem to be quite as popular, which is why the Outback owners on MCF seem to be lurking on the other Subaru threads here. Of course, the current Legacy model seems to be the least popular of all, so that one lagi no group.

OB is stable @ 150km/k on NSE. No worry. FC is quite good @ 8l/100km with 140km/h @ 2500rpm. Due to 1.6T +, CVT is quite intrusive when climbing gradient on NSE. Dare not wack above 4000rpm as still in run in period. Nxt tue gg to MI for 1k servicing.

You're right that number of Outback owners are low. Probably in early 100s and guess some don't even come onto MCF so that makes it even less active.

We have a small private Whatsapp group going for 5 recent owners. Not the biggest [:p]  but keeps it manageable

Well, I'm glad you guys do have some sort of community, no matter how small. If your estimate about Outback ownership is right, I shudder to think how few 2015+ Legacy owners there are. I guess it really boils down to how broad the appeal of a car is, given our local tax structure that penalises displacement as well as efficiency (low displacement turbo cars still get bumped to Cat B if they bust 130hp).
