any owners got bumped on bumpers front or rear when u are in parallel park lots? i had mine both front and back kena knocked by either taxi or sedans when they try getting out of lots in front or behind me.

damn now i see empty parallel lots that looked tight i rather wait longer for better lots.

but ob itself is surprisingly nimble in tight spaces for a car of this length.

Quick question - How long did the test drive last?

Out of showroom, make a U turn and go back?

Asking because wanna test the drive a little more.

Retail price 113.8k nett for 8 bids NG. Got 47k coe @ 3rd bid.

What I can say is this is a very popular car in Tasmania where I just spent 2 weeks there. I can appreciate 4-wheel and AWD because I drove FWD and experienced some challenges there.

From what was advertised in Australia, cars here were priced at least $30k more considering PARF and COE included. Not to forget their specs are usually better with higher engine capacity. AD is making he'll a lot of $.

Outback is pretty long so really have to be very careful when parallel park.  Even if your parking skill is good and manage to squeeze in, the front and back cars may hit you going in and out.  I honestly will avoid parallel parking if possible (at least while the car is still new).

Anyone has the full specifications on the stock rim?  From brochure, it is 18" x 7".  Anyone knows the PCD, Offset and Weight?

Another question, is the front white, rear yellow number plate allow on saloon car?

Same for Turbo + CVT.

Cant feel where the FXT 240bhp went to.

OB is much better drive.

Aiyo...cannot compare this way. These are 2 different cars mapped to do their job differently. The turbo with the CVT was designed with its intended purpose. To give it credit, it's one of the nicer CVTs I've driven so far. If you are talking about the FXT, the turbo can't be felt with normal driving or a short test drive. If you put it to the metal side by side, the difference will be obvious. The CVT helps maintain the drivetrain smooth and more fuel efficient, at the expense of outright throw-back kind of turbo in the WRX. The OB is luxuriously nice to drive, with ample power from its 2.5L Boxer engine. Very very classy type of smooth acceleration. But don't discount the 240hp in the he FXT. It's there. Just need the right situation for it to flex it's 350Nm of torque.

Enjoy your OB...it's a fantastic car. Like Ben mentioned in his earlier post, it would be good to have that turbo unit in the OB. I agree totally.

Wonderful. I've noticed a few Outbacks the past week on the roads. Very elegant. Nice presence too.

I felt that CVT cant unleash the 240bhp/ 350nm heart since it is built for fuel econmy. Dont understand why the delivery is so much different from Q5 & X3 where the spec are almost similar between them beside gearbox. One small tap on the Conti, the car is surging effortlessly but FXT on the other hand,@ reaching 5000rpm, is struggling for power/torque.

On paper, the Q5 and the FXT shares similar acceleration time to 100km/hr. The X3 probably a little faster than the formers for the sprint. Power wise, all 3 are quite close in output from their turbocharged 2L engines. The only difference in your 'feel' comes from the transmission. Both the Q5 and X3 uses 8-speed gearing auto transmission system while the FXT uses a CVT. The closest the FXT can match that kind of surge feeling from the 8-speed transmission in the contis swapping gears is using the S# mode which mimick 8 'gears'. But the FXT might never duplicate the same shove with its CVT system. Because of the CVT, there is a slight lag upon depressing the accelerator, but to say that it's struggling for power/torque is giving the contis a little too much 'face'.

All 3 cars you mentioned had different target audiences. They are not designed for racing out full bore. Subaru have the WRX for that and BMW have the Ms. If swap out the CVT in the FXT for a 6-speed manual of 8-speed AT, perhaps it might be another story. The Contis have the brand to hold the ground with luxury as foundation. But bring on the rough back roads, both the Q5 and X3 can wave goodbye to the Foresters/Outbacks ploughing through in their AWD.
