Hey guys, need some recommendations for a laptop to be purchased at PC show. Basically I am on a tight budget of <$900 but would like the following

1. ~14 inch

2. i5 processor

3. 4 GB ram

4. 250-500GB HDD is fine

The one which meets my requirement right now is Asus K43SJ29i5 (As from Wed's DL). However, would like more suggestions though. Thanks folks!

I bought 2 Acer last month.

1 is 14" with AMD processor, 2GB ram. $499 only from Courts.

Then, another Acer, 15", i5, 4GB from Sim Lim for $799.

So far so good.

For your reference.

Guys, need your help recommend a laptop.

Need to buy a good laptop for work urgently. These are the conditions

1) Processor speed must be superb
2) Sound and graphics must be tip top
3) Screen size 15"

I'm using the laptop for presentation, lots of animation, graphics, etc.

Would really appreciate if any kind bros can recommend one. Price is not a problem

Thanks in advance

PS: NO Mac Book

1) Temper your expectation of sound, unless you are okay to add external speaker.

2) The rest of it, choose a brand you are familiar/comfortable with and look at their highest range model. Shouldn't go wrong

3) Choose the one with best warranty

In a rush so can only offer you these for now. Later reach home will check back here again.

You just go any computer shop and tell them price is not a problem. Sure no problem :D

Anyway, Alienware is a good choice if money is not a problem [;)] Solid graphics card too

I think he means graphics as in running computer presentations 3d animation. not real gaming animation.

Frankly i think intel HD3000 inbuilt GPU is more than capable of running those.

High performance laptop?

Aftershock XG15 / MSI GE60 Apache .etc

Both are ~2.8kg, 15.6" and can be opted with a SSD as primary drive. Would significantly speed up things like animation or rendering stuff.

4710MQ, GTX850m and LCD Anti-glare display for the MSI, 4710MQ/4910MQ,GTX860M, LED matte display for the XG15 , comes with HDMI and VGA ports for your presentations. Sound wise, I believe the MSI does it better though battery life is kinda short.

Both around 2k I think.

Would you sacrifice performance for portability ?

So are you are doing graphic design?

Is storage space a concern for you?

What about battery life? Is it a concern? Do you use power plug often or use laptop on battery often?

This one for me seems not bad fit, but it still depends on you on what exactly you want, as your requirements is very wide range.

seconded, but see if u can get the extended warranty if $ is not an issue.

my razer blade hdd died a few days after warranty, but they were nice enough to change it anyway.

bought in 2012, still able to play todays games at a decent frame rate.

plus the computer is damn light, i got the 17" one ... its under 2kg for the entire thing.

yep... if it wasn't for the fact that I prefer OS X, I would get the Razer Blade in a heartbeat. I see them pushing the envelope more than the other PC OEM's.
