just got mine last Saturday in Bukit Indah Johor.

205/65 R15 + Balancing and Alignment

RM290 each + RM5 per valve

Asked a few shops around, and was offered RM310 and RM340 from other shops around the area.

Waited for an hour for the boss to go get the tyres.

Took an hour to change and balance, and another 30 mins to align.

3914 manufactured.

Happy like a bird.

Previously on XM1, the thread in Front at gone, but the 2 at the rear still good.

Changed all 4 though...

Quite, and the steering is much lighter.

Rolls much further when lifted foot from accelerator.

I paid S$125 each in Tampines. Identical size to yours.

Done in half hour.

I have XM2 tyres and they performed pretty much the same compare to Goodyear Assurance in dry and wet condition. Safety is a crucial concern for me as in Singapore, you need to be reactive in certain heavy traffic situation where sometimes a few cm can mean kissing the car or rail.

XM2 sidewall is not as tough as Assurance as the latter uses Kelvar. So bro who tend to corner should be aware. Anyway, the rolling resistance and road noise of XM is relatively lower. The brand name sits with me.

With a family, I certainly do not believe in saving a couple of dollars to compromise safety. I have my fair share of experience in lousy tyres, they simply cannot perform up to the mark unless you are 70 years old driving 70k on the 3rd lane the rest all your life. If you look at it an extra $100 for 2 years could just save you and your loved ones' lives again and again. That is a cheaper bargain.

I know of people who spend a lot of accessories like fancy rims to look good and flashy and save less than a hundred on cheap tyres. However, if your tyres lose control of the road, everything goes down. Think about. It's your car, money and lives at stake.

P.S - Better don't say so much lest I may be branded by some brainless teenagers here as tyre or car seller

Tyres are the only contact point between our cars and the roads...

A good tyre, though may be slightly expensive, but will definitely be safer in the long run...

Safety cannot be compromised in terms of monetary ... no way !

XM2 is so so till you go over some metal + bend + water.

Especially at PIE Bends near Bukit Timah.

Also I find it too much flex. When u stop the car, can feel the car going fwd and backwards. Already pump up to 40PSI still as bad.

Only good part is after 2 years and 80k km, thread is still reasonably deep.

bro, that is the suspension. the car dive when you brake hard and squat when you stomp on the accelerator.

Hi Deckbuild,

I remembered reading one of your post that you might be changing to Bridgestone Turanza GR-100?

I'm also currently using Michelin XM2, considering GR-100 next.

Hope to get a comparison of XM2 and GR-100 from you.

Thanks. blushed.gif

I have been on 2 sets of XM2, i tend to agree that the wobbling could be the 65 profile. I am also driving at 40psi/275kpa tyre pressure. At the pressure rolling resistance is minimal; wobbling is minimal but going over hump n bumps are really hard.

Driving at 256kpa/37psi is more comfortable but the wobbling can be irritating.

Maybe someone driving on 60 profile can comment.

XM2 was positioned as a touring tyres that are comfort biased.

If you require higher performance, you need Pilot Sports 3 or Pilot Super Sports (esp if you're driving a car with turbocharger/supercharger/V6 and above).

No, running shoes won't perform like sprinter shoes.

Agree, esp when in SG, any slightest knock on the car in front would set you back easily by $1,000 in repair cost (both sides) plus replacement car...

Hi Deckbuild / Skyum,

I think my car has this "wobbling" effect when i apply brake, when my car almost come to stop in front of traffic light (say from 30km/h to totally stop), my car feel like i press brake-throttle-brake-throttle repeatedly(&softly) but in fact i only apply brake constantly.

I am not sure what is the actual problem. i did suspect the following reason:

1. uneven brake disc?

2. suspension?

3. now latest possibility, tyre?

I am driving a hatchback, 18 in rim, Tyre is PS3-225/40/R18, normally i pump 260kpa.

wobbling effect started around 2 years (or around after 20k km) after 1st installed.

One thing to note is that my type were bought at $250/pc (parallel import). Were your XM2 bought from PI / dealer?

Sorry for asking some many questions.

I am thinking to improve my car situation but don't know start from where.

i am thinking to change to more comfortable/quiet tyre in the near future, and i am considering XM2 too.
