Turbogoo Neutral Newbie June 21, 2011 Share June 21, 2011 Hi all, My car has been under warranty with Khang Auto for the last one year plus. Just 25000km ago, Khang Auto at Sin ming advised me to change the brake pads to my car. I willingly said ok (as it is a safety issue). Now, 25000kms later, I hear a squeaking noise whenver I brake the car. I am puzzled as to why the brake pads wear out so fast. I went to the authorised agent of the car (I did not go back to them as Khang Auto will void warranty if i service the car elsewhere) and they advised me that the brake pads have worn out! Throughout my driving career (though not very long, about 9 years now), I have not heard of brake pads wearing out so soon. For peace of mind, I went ahead to change the front and rear discs and brake pads with the authorised agent. After that,I wanted to clarify with Khang Auto if they actually changed the brake pads...and guess what the manager there told me..."I checked with my technician and brake pads normally wear out at 25000kms" This is really crap...I am not some F1 driver and I know that brake pads wear out around at least 40000kms. I cannot say for sure that Khang Auto did not change the brake pads for me...but I am highly suspicious of them. Please....just a warning that you patronise them at your own risk. And to think that they actually do this kind of job for a safety issue, it reflects on how they think for their customers. ↡ Advertisement
Jchuacl Clutched June 21, 2011 Share June 21, 2011 TRD brake pads that I used previously lasted only 20K, and it was consistent for about 4-5 changes. On the other hand, Mugen pads lasted me for 100K. Hi all, My car has been under warranty with Khang Auto for the last one year plus. Unfair 3rd Gear June 21, 2011 Share June 21, 2011 Hi Bro, there might be a possibility that they gave you different brand of brake pads that wear out sooner due to more friction or just lower grades ones. But will take note of this workshop if more reports surface :)

The thing is I asked the Service advisor from the authorised agent how long does the original brake pads last...he told me at least 40000km. Just for background info, the make of the car is a german marque. Thanks for the pointers though bro, :) cheers

Stratovarius Turbocharged June 22, 2011 Share June 22, 2011 My car's warrenty is under them too. IMO, their service is quite good. Mine is a jap make so 10k servicing is around $100+. Weird thing is that i hit 40k and went for sevicing. I don't think they did a major one. Should i ask them to do? Also they charge me $75 for aircon filter change. Is it i got carrot? Other than that, their normal servicing is quite good.

That's what i thought initially of good service till the following happened: 1.They returned my car with the steering wheel not straight.meaning when the car is facing straight, the steering wheel is three quarters off centre. 2.after just one week of servicing..my steerin wheel vibrated n when i went back to authorised agt, they showed me my front tyres r so bald tat the inner side is showing silvery threads. My question is...why didnt khang pick tat up during the servicing? They will tell u things nice to hear like no need to change parts unnecessarily to make an impression they very gentleman. But after sometime,i ask myself if brakes n tyres r not impt to them?what is? They will always ask me to leave my car overnight mny days with them and problem not solved. I had enough of their "pr"! Kb27 Supersonic June 23, 2011 Share June 23, 2011 I didn't know any brake pad that last only 25k or 40k. The last time I change out at 60k on my car, it still has 50% left. I would think that 100k should be the norm for brake pads...unless the pads are of bad quality.

You might as well walk into some retail store at Sin ming and buy your own air con filter... ask them to change for you on the spot or ask your mechanic to change for you during your regular service. You reall big carrot for the air con filter !

Your break pad will not last long. Or you drive like a F1 driver, it not going to last you long too
