How is Transformers 3?

So far, 2 groups of audiences doesn't like this show

 

1) Girls

2) Normal movie-goers

 

Kind of expected to me.

 

You need to be a true hard core transformers fan to like this movie. It's Bay last movie, so I think he wants all the transformers fan to be overdose by all the robots.....bigger robots, bigger explosion, bigger scale (even to the moon!). Nvr mind the storyline, nvr mind too much of the fight.

 

But non-transformer fans will hate it.....because it's fight and fight and fight.....nothing much else.

 

frankly speaking, its a joke. decepticon dont even transform. what type of transformer is that??

Nope! As a hardcore Transformers fan, I treat micheal bay's treatment more of a alternated version of the transformers world. No self respecting fan will fully acknowledge bay's version. So much that some nicknamed his movies "bayformers"

 

hardcore fan still cannot except the fact that bumblebee cannot speak, optimus prime has a mouth and was fire design in truck mode, ironhide is black and megatron transform into a jet!

 

 

for this, i think i will give concession as he had indicate that the reason why he go for jet and not a gun is because he want to make it real. hence its not realistic that Megatron tranform into a small gun then later emerge as a larger robot by 100Xs.

Lucky for me i was not a transformers follower last time. So i dont know who is what. N so far, ive enjoyed the movies as they are.

the movie's quite all rite, definitely better than the previous one..

 

like i've said before, if u are looking at something more realistic in life, watch other shows, maybe those oscar-nominated shows.. these movies are based on cartoons, so u cannot expect that the plot is logical and everything should be the same as what it should be in real life..

 

it does not require u to think and analyze what should be wrong or what should be right actually.. just sit back, relax, watch the action and sound effects..

Dude, I think some elements really not realistic to bring from cartoon to movie lo...

I'm not saying it not realistic or anything per se, I'm more frustrated that the movie doesn't follow very closely to how the original cartoons/comics portray the whole thing.

 

In fact in the revised originals, Megatron did transform into a tank, which was deplicted in TF2.

 

Anyway. Here are some of the things that the movie defers from the cartoon/comics. Just something I'd like to share as a TF fan:

 

 

- The Original Carly was a more demure and down-to-earth Blonde who studied in MIT on Science and electronics. The movie Carly was more bimbolic and work as a curator?? One things for sure, cartoon Carly did not have botox lips...lol The cartoon Carly will eventually marry Sam(called "Spike" in the cartoons) and have a boy. Mikaela did not exist in the comics/cartoon.

 

 

- In the cartoon, Sam's mother died when he was young and he's always with his father (call "sparkplug in the comic/cartoons) Their father and son relationship and struggles can actually be a very strong plot device in the movie but I think Hasbro, the toy maker preferred a more conventional family. After all TF's main target are for kids. In the comics, the relation is even more complex and the father actually have a deep resentment of the TFs in the later part of the comics after his son was kidnapped by Decepticons, his house was destroy and he suffered a heart attack when the autobots attack him by mistake.

 

 

- Optimus Prime in the cartoon was more benevolent less violent. He was one with mercy and compassion as oppose to Megatron. In the movie he was more violent and less merciful towards his enemies and betrayors. But he's duty and compassion towards humans was consist in the movie/cartoon/comics.

 

 

- Barricade(the police car in TF1/TF3) in the cartoons was part of a combiner group called "stunticons", Brawl(the tank in TF1) was part of a combiner group called "Combaticons". This two group combiner into larger robot which are suppose to be much stronger than "Devastator" in the cartoon. Devastator is the giant robot that sucks sand in TF2.

 

 

- Sentinel Prime, in the comics, was one the few greatest Autobot leaders who died under the hands of Megatron. He was just a "calafare" in the comics with only a few back stories. He's alway shown to pass the Matrix of Leader to a younger Optimus Prime. In the cartoon he did not exist but a likeness of him called "Aplha Trion" was considered an oracle or "wise old man" who often guide the Autobot leaders in thoughts/dreams in difficult situations. Sentinel Prime is potraited(in original comics/cartoons) as qa noble and brave Leader just like Optimus Prime.

 

 

- The planet of Cybertron is potrait differently in both the cartoon and comics. In the Cartoon, Cybertron is roughly the size of the moon. In the Comics Cybertron is 6 times the size of earth. Guess which size the Movie follows? :)

 

 

- Optimus Prime is voiced by the same guy who did the voice in the cartoon. Peter Cullen. He is one of the strong reasons why fans are still supporting this movie. How ever the original actor of cartoon Megatron, Frank Welker, failed to get the role for Movie Megatron. Instead Hugo Weaving (Agent Smith or Elrond from LOTR) got the role. Instead, Frank got the role for Soundwave in TF2/TF2. Incidentally, Frank was also the voice actor with cartoon soundwave, though it's synthesised.

 

 

- Shockwave as depicted as a formidable decepticon in the cartoon and extremely loyal to megatron. In the comics, he is much worst and even overthrown Megatron to lead the decepticon with an iron fist. A much more merciless leader and even stronger than Optimus himself. In the cartoon he has no pet "worm" and is already very powerful and stronger than Meg. When you watch the movie do you think you have the feeling that he's very powerful?

 

 

- In the cartoon/comics, bumblebee is much smaller and not very strong. In the movie he is like any regular autobot. Totally different.

 

 

- Starscream is the most consist character in the movie/cartoon/comics. He is incompetent, cowardly, cunning and plans to take over Megatron.

Dude, just relax and don't think too much of the past.

 

I think in every cartoon/superhero movie, the challenge is always to strike a balance between the fans and the general audience.

 

The fans want it to be as close to the original cartoon/comics. The general audience on the other hand, wants to see beautiful CG, impossible action, beautiful girl, easy to understand storyline, etc....

 

Remember the cartoon/comics goes over years and years of continuation. The movie has to do it within 2-3 hours. And within than 2-3 hours, you have to satisfy both the fans and the general audience. It's not an easy job, and like the saying goes, no matter what you do, you can't satisfy everyone.

 

As long you don't see things like the leader of Autobots is Megatron and Bumblebee is a Decepticon, or Starscream is an Auitobot then the rest just relax and let the movie maker do what he thinks is best for everyone.

Yeah la....how to follow closely like the cmics n cartoons? It need to b a series rather than movie to hv all that pocus stated followed fm vartoon to movies. Cme on la....y cant fans of transforers see the movies in a different light?

Been watching TF1 till TF3 but still struggling to remember who's who and the story (as depicted in the movie).

 

So far I only know of 3 Autobots: Optimus Prime, Sentinel Prime and Bumble Bee and 1 baddie Decepticon: Megatron.

 

And I know they all came from a doomed planet Cybertron.

 

Other than that, I knew nothing about the rest because Autobats or Decepticons look the same and the fight scenes were SO SO FAST!

 

But if there is a TF4, I will probably go watch it not so much so for the story but for the intense fights.

then the story really goes downhill, predictable, and.... i dozed off.

 

woke up to see robots fight, and like u see one u've seen all....

 

first time in my life i fell asleep watching transformers

I walked out of the cinema after 20 mins of Transformers II.

I don't think I want to try III.

i nvr understand ppl who walked out on a movie. wonder wat kind of expectations do they set for the movie. even a movie as bad a blair witch project...i sat thru it. cos when going to a movie, u wanna wat the story is all abt, how it ends...etc etc.

 

n transformers is not even the worst movie ever. u must hv went in expecting a direct cartoon/comic to movie adaptation. or...u expecting oscar type of acting n storyline.

talking about blair witch, haha..that was an epic disaster...but well, I did seat through the thing.

went to watched the show last nite, expected anice show but...

slept a few times in the show...

wat a lousy story! only good is the 3D. very disappointng. no worth watching in cinema.

 

 

i also slept at some parts of the show - my son woke me up. The leading actress was rubbish - very heavy British

accent and typical British Lips. The last 30 mins was full of action - attacking here and there until I was confused who

was who. My son was pretty excited as he knows who is who (The Robots). I think the 3D was so so - they should be

make it at least a 4D.
