STOMPer Jason saw a parked taxi catch fire at Bedok. The cause of this was probably the burning offerings on the carpark kerb, said the STOMPer.

Jason related over the phone (Aug 28):

"This happened near the Bedok North 511 market today, around 6.15pm.

"At first, the fire was small, then within three minutes, it became a big blaze.

"Firemen on motorbikes arrived at the scene within three minutes, and managed to control the fire.

"Shortly after, a Red Rhino and a fire engine arrived at the scene too.

"The taxi driver was not present at the scene -- he must have parked there to go have dinner at the nearby market.

"I believe the cause might have been the candles and other burning offerings on the kerb.

"These were directly under the parked taxi -- and the taxi was parked properly.

"They should not have burnt the offerings so near to the carpark.

"Either this was the cause, or burning ash from nearby offerings could have blown over and also sparked the fire.

"The taxi's two rear tyres were burnt, and the boot also had holes caused by the blaze.

"The whole incident took about half an hour.

"I also saw the firemen trying to find the taxi driver's particulars to contact him."

Just a thought, say an incense shop caught fire ad burned down.

Does it mean some of these good bros came up an robbed the "bank"?

Imagine the amount of $$$ left for the good bros to collect after the fire.

Very happy for the taxi driver.

He can claim holiday and rest for a few days.

All under insurance...so no need to worry.

Did the fire put out? Fuel tank at the rear got fireworks explosion or not?

Taxi company will just give him replacement cab. He still needs to drive. Sorry, no holidays.

Damm....I thought can stop rental payment for few days to rest.

Not self accident, so sure can claim rebate for non-car available.

Haiz....so efficient these cab companies. Die die want the drivers to work 365 a days.

Best business...machiam like slavery.
