Actually to be politically correct, Land Rovers were especially & notoriously unreliable when BMW was the owner of Land Rovers, 'trucks' from the period from 90's- mid 2000's were

damn bad hence the high ownership costs.

 

However, after FORD bought over in the 2000's & started to 'shake' things up, it got much better. 2010 Rides produce by Land Rover became super reliable & it's more sought after then

ever before.

Correct, but both Jaguar & land Rovers are still using FORD engines/ ZF gearboxes & predominantly FORD know how.

 

Jaguar has been winning JD Powers reliability surveys consistantly or at least keeps finishing in the top few places hence

Land Rovers was merged with Jaguar with shared know how thus explaining the much improved Land Rovers

 

Side note, to top it off Range Rovers/ Rang Rovers Sports & Land Rover Discovery were the undisputed safest rides as gathered by the

North America Insurance with zero injuries for it's occupants as published by Straits Times (Sat Times) recently.

Was told more than 10 years back, about 75% of Defender still roadworthy and being driven around (this is real tough vehicle).
